In conjunction with its Aggies Thrive initiative, the Office of Human Resources has partnered with Campus Recreation for USU’s participation in World Mental Health Day on Monday, October 10, 2022. LGBT+ Support Group

LGBTQ+ Support Group is for students that identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and those that are questioning if they are a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Students are provided with the opportunity to get together in a safe environment where they can learn from, and support, each other. Each week, we will discuss important issues that LGBTQ+ individuals face with topics being chosen by those who wish to participate. This group will be co-facilitated by Jacob Cameron, a therapist from USU Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) and Erika-Danielle Lundström, the Gender and Sexuality Coordinator at the Inclusion Center. This group is an opportunity to discuss and support one another within the complicated and varied issues surrounding body liberation, with an emphasis on Body Justice and Fat Liberation, to illuminate the truth and move past societal/cultural messaging in an effort to liberate each individual participant. This group will provide: A safe space to explore societal impacts on group members’ relationship with their bodies, self-image, and health. A safe space to share individual and collective experiences of living in this society; including workplace, dating, family of origin, social media, health systems, etc. A safe space to authentically connect with others around experiences, thoughts, and feelings of living in a thin-obsessed, fat-phobic culture. This course is an introduction into lead climbing taught at the ARC Climbing Wall. You will learn proper techniques for climbing and belaying. Class size is capped at 6 people so get your spot early! BIPOC support and Solidarity group is a peer-to-peer support group developed by BIPOC students for BIPOC students. This support group is available to all BIPOC students or students with Multiple Marginalized Identities. The purpose of this group is to provide support to students who have faced microaggressions or discrimination. The group will provide empowerment through peer-to-peer support allowing for a greater sense of belonging on campus.

We are heading down south to the calm flowing waters of the Green River through Labyrinth Canyon, Wed, Oct. 12 through Sun, Oct. 16. We will load everything we need in canoes and paddle 45 miles of river winding through beautiful sandstone cliffs. Participants must be able to swim and prepared to paddle a canoe in variable springtime weather in a desert environment. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mountain bike (in good working condition) or a rental is available from the OP for a nominal fee. Sizes and quantities are limited. Arrington Mormon History Lecture: Historical Archaeology and the Latter-day Saint Past

This lecture will review the history of archaeological investigations at sites connected to the Latter-day Saint past and examine the ways historical archaeology has contributed to our understanding of that past. Examples from various sites, where historical archaeologists have utilized a wide range of methods, illustrate the potential of historical archaeology to confirm, complete, correct, and sometimes confuse our understanding of the Latter-day Saint past.

American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Blended Learning course helps participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. You will learn some core skills to treat: - Breathing and cardiac emergencies (CPR, AED, choking) - Injuries (broken bones, burns, cuts, stings) - Sudden illnesses (heat/cold emergencies, allergic reactions) Register at recportal.usu.edu
Clothesline Project - Domestic Violence Awareness Month

The Clothesline Project is an annual event to raise awareness about domestic violence during the month of October, National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Clothesline Project is a visual display of shirts with graphic messages and illustrations that have been designed by survivors of interpersonal violence or by someone who loves someone who has been killed. It was created as a way for survivors to share what has happened to them as well as highlight the realities behind statistics of domestic violence that are often overlooked. The project will be displayed across USU Campus at various dining services locations. We encourage you to visit a display this month and visit our resources page should you or someone you know need help.
