LGBT+ Support Group
Workshop/Training
LGBTQ+ Support Group is for students that identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and those that are questioning if they are a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Students are provided with the opportunity to get together in a safe environment where they can learn from, and support, each other. Each week, we will discuss important issues that LGBTQ+ individuals face with topics being chosen by those who wish to participate. This group will be co-facilitated by Jacob Cameron, a therapist from USU Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) and Erika-Danielle Lundström, the Gender and Sexuality Coordinator at the Inclusion Center. Trans Allies Training

In this virtual two hour training, participants learn about key terminology, microaggressions, state laws, and other key topics that impact the trans and non-binary community. Participants have the opportunity to take a commitment pledge and receive a trans allies sticker. This group is an opportunity to discuss and support one another within the complicated and varied issues surrounding body liberation, with an emphasis on Body Justice and Fat Liberation, to illuminate the truth and move past societal/cultural messaging in an effort to liberate each individual participant. This group will provide: A safe space to explore societal impacts on group members’ relationship with their bodies, self-image, and health. A safe space to share individual and collective experiences of living in this society; including workplace, dating, family of origin, social media, health systems, etc. A safe space to authentically connect with others around experiences, thoughts, and feelings of living in a thin-obsessed, fat-phobic culture. Resources and information to learn more about the concepts of Body Justice, Fat Liberation, Health At Every Size, etc. This group is open to students, faculty, and staff. The purpose of this focus group is to gain knowledge on body image from the male perspective. Attendees will evaluate a presentation and identify areas for improvement. Science Unwrapped: Chemical Commuters

Inquiring minds of all ages are invited to Science Unwrapped, the public outreach program of USU's College of Science. Admission is free. Our Oct. 21 speaker is USU environmental and analytical chemist Kimberly Hageman, who presents "Chemical Commuters: How Pollutants Travel Far and Wide Through the Earth's Atmosphere" at 7 pm in the Emert Auditorium (ESLC 130) of the Eccles Science Learning Center on the USU Logan campus. Dr. Hageman will speak for about half an hour and then invite questions from the audience. Afterwards, enjoy refreshments and hands-on STEM learning activities provided by student and community groups in the ESLC atrium. This course is a great introduction to wilderness medicine and basic life support skills. It is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast who wants more than an urban first aid course provides. The emphasis of the class is on recognizing and treating life-threatening traumatic and medical emergencies, common wilderness injuries, bandaging and splinting, and environmental injuries. CPR is included in the curriculum.

The Pumpkin Toss is one of ASME’s biggest events of the year! Teams build trebuchets and compete as they launch pumpkins across the field and try to hit targets such as pianos, trampolines, fridges, furniture, and whatever else North Logan City can find! Hundreds of people from the community come to watch and enjoy the food trucks and other booths that will be there. Joining a team is easy! Sponsors help provide supplies, and the ASME Council can help along the way.

We are a group of five Utah State students hosting a fundraiser to earn revenue for the Mali Wellness Foundation. Our “Charity Concert” will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 7 pm in the TSC Sunburst Lounge. The evening will consist of live concert entertainment provided by the Running Sons and raffle prizes. All profits raised throughout the event will be donated to the Mali Wellness Foundation to improve living conditions in Malian rural communities!
