Alise King is an American photographer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. She received her Master of Arts in Fashion Film and Photography at the Paris College of Art, Paris, France in 2021.
Her photography focuses on portraiture while challenging the concept of gender and social constructs in today’s society. She creates work that comments on social consumption and the way it engulfs our day-to-day life. She aims to represent diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of her work while producing emotion through lighting and staging.
Still highlights the works created during her studies in Paris, France. Her collection of art showcases conceptual photography and videography discussing concepts of mental health, societal norms, inclusivity, consumption, and performance as well as the exploration of fashion photography and studio portraiture. The intention of Still is to showcase ways we are still growing, still developing, and still learning.

This exhibit shows a comprehensive project between Architectural Graphics I + II and CADD I + II. The project outline is simple: design a small residence for two people, approximately 500 sqft per level. The residence must have more than one level, be built in Utah, and meet all residential building codes. Students begin their design by abstracting an object, which then develops into architecture. The students create presentation drawings, a three-dimensional model, set of construction documents, and interior and exterior renderings of their custom design.

Physics Colloquium Series: Dr. Adam Solomon, McMaster University

Dr. Solomon applies the methods of theoretical particle physics to the outstanding problems in modern cosmology and astrophysics. He has been interested in the conceptual and observational implications of modified theories of gravity for dark energy and inflation, as well as effective field theory in cosmology. More recently he has been interested in black hole perturbation theory and its symmetries.

Flu and COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic

USU's Employee Wellness program is hosting our annual Flu Shot Clinic in collaboration with Bear River Health Department. We will also be offering COVID-19 vaccines for all individuals ages 12 years and older. Both vaccinations are free for benefited employees and their eligible dependents. Registration is required for ALL receiving a vaccination and masks are welcome for all ages 2 years and older. Students can receive Flu or COVID-19 vaccines at the Aggie Wellness Fair on September 20, 2022 at the Aggie Recreation Center. If you are unable to make it to the annual on campus clinic you may receive free flu shots for you and your dependents at any pharmacy within the Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah network.

Grab your bike and come spend a few hours pedaling one of the many fantastic mountain biking trails in the Logan area. We will meet at the OP shop, load up our bikes and drive to the Providence trailhead and ride. Intermediate to advanced riding level is recommended. Participants must be in good physical condition and prepared for strenuous physical activity. Trip cost includes transportation to and from the trailhead and student leadership. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mountain bike (in working condition). If you need a bike, an OP rental is available at a discounted rate.

Dreams and Inspirations: Faculty Recital with Jeiran Hasan
Arts/Entertainment
International prize-winning flutist, Dr. Jeiran Hasan leads a multi-faceted career as a collaborator, educator, and soloist. Hasan maintains an active schedule as a guest artist, performer, clinician, and adjudicator with events around the globe. Additionally, she has been a prizewinner or finalist in over 20 international and national competitions including the Young Artist and Orchestral Audition and Masterclass competitions of the National Flute Association (NFA), and the Young Artist competitions of numerous flute societies in the U.S. In 2019, Hasan gave the U.S. premiere of Anze Rozman's "Phoenix for Flute and Orchestra" with the Knox-Galesburg Symphony.
As a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee through the NFA, she is the co-founder and mentor of the Young Artist Mentorship Program, which serves to provide additional career opportunities for traditionally marginalized flute students. She also serves on the Myrna Brown International Scholarship and Cultural Liaison Committees. A champion of promoting Azerbaijani classical music in the U.S., she is currently commissioning and premiering numerous works for flute by female Azerbaijani composers.

Alise King Exhibition

Alise King is an American photographer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. She received her Master of Arts in Fashion Film and Photography at the Paris College of Art, Paris, France in 2021.
Her photography focuses on portraiture while challenging the concept of gender and social constructs in today’s society. She creates work that comments on social consumption and the way it engulfs our day-to-day life. She aims to represent diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of her work while producing emotion through lighting and staging.
Still highlights the works created during her studies in Paris, France. Her collection of art showcases conceptual photography and videography discussing concepts of mental health, societal norms, inclusivity, consumption, and performance as well as the exploration of fashion photography and studio portraiture. The intention of Still is to showcase ways we are still growing, still developing, and still learning.
Tiny House Exhibit / Interior Design and Architecture Program

This exhibit shows a comprehensive project between Architectural Graphics I + II and CADD I + II. The project outline is simple: design a small residence for two people, approximately 500 sqft per level. The residence must have more than one level, be built in Utah, and meet all residential building codes. Students begin their design by abstracting an object, which then develops into architecture. The students create presentation drawings, a three-dimensional model, set of construction documents, and interior and exterior renderings of their custom design.

Almost every academic discipline engages in scholarly peer review. Peer review is high stakes work; reviewer feedback influences (often determines) whether manuscripts are published, and for many academics, keeping their job depends on publishing their scholarship. In other words, peer reviews have material, professional consequences. It’s surprising, then, that scholars are rarely trained in how to be a good reviewer. In this workshop led by Rebecca Walton, you’ll learn a practical heuristic for providing peer review feedback that is inclusive, helpful, and appropriate.

"Roberto Burle Marx and Forest Politics" Catherine Seavitt Nordenson, FASLA, AIA is a professor and director of the graduate landscape architecture program at the Spitzer School of Architecture, City College of New York. A registered architect and landscape architect, she is a graduate of the Cooper Union and Princeton University, a fellow of the American Academy in Rome, and a recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship for research in Brazil. Her work explores adaptation to climate change in urban environments and the novel transformation of landscape restoration practices. She also examines the intersection of political power, environmental activism, and public health, particularly as seen through the design of equitable public space and policy.

Our Sept. 23 speaker is ecologist and USU alum Ben Abbott, of Brigham Young University, who presents "Lake Effects: Utah Lake Issues Reveal How We View Science and Public Policy" at 7 pm in the Emert Auditorium (ESLC 130) of the Eccles Science Learning Center on the USU Logan campus. Dr. Abbott will speak for about half an hour and then invite questions from the audience. Afterwards, enjoy refreshments and hands-on STEM learning activities provided by student and community groups in the ESLC atrium.
