CIDI Workshop - Running Secure Exams in Canvas
Workshop/Training
This workshop addresses how to create exams in Canvas, plus tools and methods for protecting quiz content and ensuring academic integrity when in-person proctoring isn't an option. (Includes discussion of Proctorio, question banks, time limits, question design, and more.)
Stress and Anxiety Management Part 1

Lunch & Learn - Cyber Wellness: Cyber Security Tips for Individuals

USU Be Well and Steven Clark, Information Technology ERP Technical Administrator, present a lunch and learn on cyber wellness and how to stay protected in our digital world. Like other aspects of life, taking care of your your digital life requires knowledge, planning, and effort. Just as exercise and a healthy diet promote physical health and planning, saving, and budgeting promote financial security - come learn why personal cyber security matters and what you can do to improve your Cyber Wellness.
*Presentation will be available in person and virtually and will be recorded. Attendance and participation in this event qualify as an activity for the Be Well Rewards program.*
Ecology Center Data Science Workshop Series

The Ecology Center provides free, graduate student-led workshops on programming for data analysis. Sessions are held on Tuesdays at 3:00PM in NR 204, and are designed for beginners in the topic. Most workshops are focused on R, but we cover Python and Gooogle Earth Engine as well. Please bring your own computer. Below is this semester's schedule: Sept. 12 - Introduction to R Sept. 19 - Data wrangling using data.table Sept. 26 - Data wrangling and beyond with the tidyverse Oct. 3 - Data visualization with base R Oct. 10 - Data visualization with ggplot Oct. 17 - Advanced R: for-loops and functions Oct. 24 - Wrangling and analyzing spatial data in R Oct. 31 - Intro to Google Earth Engine Nov. 7 - Visualizing spatial data in R Nov. 14 - Intro to Python Nov. 28 - Github and reproducible analysis
CIDI Workshop - Teaching Classes in Zoom
Workshop/Training
Learn how to plan, begin, and successfully teach a class over Zoom. This workshop focuses less on Zoom functionality and more on teaching strategies for keeping students engaged and minimizing distractions when teaching in real-time, remotely.

Body Liberation Book Club
Workshop/Training
Join us for our second Body Liberation Book Club! This group is an opportunity to discuss and support one another within the complicated and varied issues surrounding body liberation. The Body Is Not an Apology offers radical self-love as the balm to heal the wounds inflicted by violent systems of oppression. World-renowned activist and poet Sonya Renee Taylor invites us to reconnect with the radical origins of our minds and bodies and celebrate our collective, enduring strength. Free and open to students, faculty, and staff! We will be meeting three times this fall semester: October 4th, October 18th, and November 1st. We will be handing out the book* and reading schedule all day on September 21st in TSC 313. *Books are available for free to the first 20 registrants, so be sure to register now using the link below.
Conducting an Inclusive Search: Best Practices
Workshop/Training
The Office of Equity’s “Conducting an Inclusive Search: Best Practices” training will help hiring and search committees understand the ways in which they can limit bias during the hiring and search processes. It is an interactive training that focuses on the various aspects of the processes (from establishing group operating procedures to evaluating candidate interviews). It can be tailored to the needs of the individual hiring or search committee.
Nutrition Nightmares: Sorting through Misinformation

This will be a 1-hour presentation on sorting through nutrition misinformation that we find on the internet, social media, and other sources. You will learn about common nutrition myths and how to tell if information you find regarding nutrition is true! This presentation is put on by graduate-level Dietetics students. It is also Halloween-themed, so come and join us for an hour of fun!
SAAVI Writing Studio

CIDI Workshop - Digital Badging Using Canvas Credentials (previously Badgr)
Workshop/Training
Digital badges are sometimes called microcredentials. They can be awarded to students for various accomplishments and then shared by students on social media and elsewhere as an indicator of their accomplishment or competence. Canvas has an integrated digital badging tool called Canvas Credentials (previously called Badgr). This workshop addresses how to create, award, and track digital badges.

Understanding Macronutrients for the College Student

This will be a 30-minute mini nutrition workshop on tips to making sure college students are getting the proper nutrition through their diet! This class is put on by senior USU Dietetics students.

Getting Unstuck: Strategies to Manage Depression

College life is full of emotional peaks and valleys, but some valleys run deeper and longer than others. Sometimes we can feel stuck and unsure of how to climb back up. This workshop takes a hopeful and creative view of depression as a journey. You will learn to better understand depression, its role in your life, and how it can be a starting point on your personal journey of becoming.

USU Uintah Basin Community Education Courses: Chakra 101
Workshop/Training
This is not a class that you take once and forget. You will identify the unique qualities of the chakras; become familiar with your own body intuitively; unblock and balance your energy; help heal and develop your mind, body and spirit; and learn to know yourself and discover personal harmony and balance.

Women in Welding Workshop
Workshop/Training
Over the course of three sessions, participants will learn how to set up a welder for GMAW/FCAW, apply basic troubleshooting techniques, use basic shop tools and machinery, and will be introduced to entry-level fabrication techniques. Students will complete a small project by the end of the course to take home with them.
This workshop runs three consecutive Saturdays, September 23, 30 and October 7, 2023.
