Bio

Doug Ramsey is a professor in the Department of Wildland Resources. His research and teaching focus is in the use of various remote sensing technologies and geospatial analysis techniques to monitor and assess temporal changes in ecosystems across the western U.S. His background in rangeland ecology sets his primary interest in semi-arid landscapes, but has worked in a variety of natural and human ecosystems. He has 38 years of experience applying satellite and airborne imagery to solve natural resource problems and has conducted research in the Western U.S., Mexico, Egypt, Iceland, India, Namibia, Uzbekistan, and China in semi-arid, forested, agricultural, aquatic, and urbanized systems.

During his 34-year career at Utah State University, he has mentored over 35 graduate students and has served in over 150 graduate committees in various academic departments and colleges across the university.
