Bio

Dr. Clevenger is an assistant professor in Kinesiology and Health Science at Utah State University who studies the promotion and measurement of physical activity, particularly in children. Her work has a unique emphasis on how the physical environment influences children's free-play, how behavior varies over time and space, and how this impacts subsequent positive and negative environmental exposures (e.g., to noise, nature). Dr. Clevenger is interested in the use of a variety of sensor types to capture behavior and its context, with specific expertise in accelerometry. She is also interested in ensuring all children have sufficient, quality opportunities for free-play during and outside of school. Prior to coming to Utah State University, Dr. Clevenger completed a postdoctoral fellowship (National Institutes of Health), MPH (Harvard), PhD (Michigan State University), and MS/BS (Ohio University).
