Bio

Dr. Kristin Searle’s research focuses on broadening the participation of females and minorities in STEM, with a focus on how to design learning activities that align with participants gendered and cultural identities. With over $1 million in external research funding, Dr. Searle works across formal K-12 and informal educational spaces.

As an assistant professor of instructional technology and learning sciences at USU’s Logan campus, Dr. Searle works to develop curriculum that is responsive to learners from diverse cultural groups and prepares teachers to implement that curriculum in their classroom. She works with K-12 schools and informal learning organizations throughout the Intermountain West. In particular, Dr. Searle works closely with schools serving primarily Indigenous students in the Navajo Nation and in Montana.

At Utah State University, Dr. Searle has been recognized with the Diversity Award, the Community Engaged Faculty Award, and the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services Strong Human Services Award.
