University Agreements

What are University Agreements?

University Agreements are created to provide financial support to initiatives that may align with the mission of Utah State University. The mission of Utah State University is to be one of the nation’s premier student-centered land-grant and space-grant universities by fostering the principle that academics come first, by cultivating diversity of thought and culture, and by serving the public through learning, discover, and engagement.

Application for University Agreement

Types

Two types of University Agreements exist at Utah State University: (1) Internal and (2) External organizations. To submit an application, the following are required:

Funding

When an application is submitted, the requestor will be required to describe the funding models to be used for the University Agreement. Funding amounts are determined as a result of the application review and can vary by application approval. The process is competitive; not all applications will be funded. All applications are strongly encouraged to include matching funds. Preference may be given to applicants who can commit to match funds.

Timeline

Applications are due a minimum of 6 months prior to scholarship awarding. New proposals must have accompanying budget requests, scholarship awarding criteria, and a timeline of awarding. Notifications of application approvals will be sent within 1 month of application being received.

Compliance and Auditing

By submitting a University Agreement, you agree to follow USU Scholarship Policy 532. As an organization will be selecting the recipients, transparency and fairness in the selection process must be clearly documented and be accessible by the Student Financial Support. Internal auditors, external auditors, and Student Financial Support personnel have authority to review and measure the effectiveness of scholarship controls and outcomes. USU may require a university representative to serve on the committee or be part of the review and selection process.

Approvals

Upon application submission, Student Financial Support will review the request and prepare documentation for review. Individuals reviewing the application may include the Office of Legal Affairs, Business Services, Budget & Finance, Internal Audit, and members of the Executive Enrollment Management Committee (EEMC). When a decision is made, Student Financial Support will notify the USU employee who submitted the application.
