Biography

Kitty Balay is a director, actor, voice/speech coach, and educator.
She is a Resident Artist/ Artistic Associate at the Pacific Conservatory Theatre (PCPA) in Santa Maria, California where she has worked on over 100 productions In her 30+ years of residency. Her other regional theatre credits include South Coast Repertory,
Utah Shakespeare Festival, and the Great American Melodrama.
 
Her directing credits include: The Sound of Music (Broadway World’s Best Direction of a Musical -2022), Million Dollar Quartet, A Little Night Music, The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence, and Trying.
 
Some of her favorite roles include, Patsy Cline in Always, Patsy Cline, Dolly Levi in Hello Dolly!, Mama Rose in Gypsy!, Kate Keller in All My Sons, Amanda Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie, and Rebecca Heminges in The Book of Will.
 
Kitty received her BA from Brown University and her MFA from the University of California- Irvine. She is a member of Actor’s Equity Association and a 2019 Lunt-Fontanne Fellow.
