One reason Tutankhamun's tomb was not plundered in antiquity is because it lay near a subsequent burial, that of Ramses VI, and in the process of constructing that tomb the ancient Egyptian workers obscured the entrance to Tutankhamun's. New evidence suggests also that a violent rainstorm soon after his burial covered the area near the outer doorway making access all the more difficult. |
