Agribusiness focuses on the financing, marketing, and management of ag-related industry. Some of the major topics and courses covered in USU Online’s agribusiness program are agricultural economics, principles of management information systems, natural resources and regional economics, firm finance and records analysis, and more. By the time you graduate, you’ll find success in whichever business field you’d want, whether it’s in or out of agriculture.

This program boasts one of the lowest student-to-teacher ratios at USU, allowing students a good opportunity to network and work more with their instructors. The majority of the faculty members in the College of Agriculture have national and international experience, bringing important global perspectives to students.

Career Outlook

There is a large variety of career opportunities with a bachelor’s in agribusiness. With a agriculture business degree in hand, you can become a commodities trader, a ranch manager, an operational manager, and more.

In the agricultural sector, seven of the 10 highest paid occupations are manager positions, which often require a college degree. This degree is versatile and gives you a strong foundation in business that you can apply toward any business career, not just agriculture.

Agribusiness Courses Preview

This course introduces commodity futures and options trading. Students learn about fundamental and technical analysis of markets and how to hedge to offset commodity price risk. Speculative trading strategies are also introduced.
This course covers the basic principles of agribusiness sales and marketing. After completing a series of self-assessments relating to sales, learning, and personality preferences, students learn to complete each major step of the sales process.
This course focuses on key legal issues of American agricultural and natural resource law, including numerous applicable exceptions within the legal system. It also covers key topics such as the Endangered Species Act, water law, and federal land issues.
Introduction to economic principles as they apply to the food and agricultural industry. Emphasizes production and consumption of food and fiber products, the structure of the agricultural/agribusiness industry, major farm problems, and public policy issues impacting agribusiness firms.
