Monday, January 16, 2023 | Nearly 50 volunteers joined COSAS staff and student leads at the annual MLK Day of Service. COSAS worked with the WAB Warming Center to spread the word about its services to provide temporary overnight shelter to community members without a warm place to sleep, and with the Cache Humane Society to clear snow from the outdoor kennels.

From 11-1pm, volunteers stood at booths at the Lee's in North Logan and in Smithfield, Prodigy Brewing, Smith's, and La Rancherita, telling customers about the warming center and gathering donations for the community members who are served there. They collected 679 individual items, ranging from phone chargers to bottles of hand sanitizer, to donate to the center. Updated donations lists are always available on the warming center's website or on Facebook.

From 2-4pm, volunteers braved the elements to shovel snow out of the kennel area and completed cleaning tasks inside the Cache Humane Society's facility.

The Center for Community Engagement arranges a Day of Service as part of the AmeriCorps MLK Day of Service initiative every January. Log in to AggiePulse with your A-number and password to find out about upcoming opportunities for volunteers.
