Residence Life's Thanksgiving Program

For many students Thanksgiving break means traveling over the holidays to visit with family and friends. However, not all students travel for Thanksgiving and this is where Residence Life plays an important role for campus students. This was the second year that the Residence Life Department hosted its annual holiday program for students that did not travel off campus for the holidays.

Students may not travel home for a variety of reasons, such as the financial cost, winter storms, international travel, and many others. The event is hosted in the Lundstrom Conference Room and provides a free traditional Thanksgiving meal for all students to attend.

This year, Dining Services partnered with Residence Life and provided linens, plates, silverware and glass cups so students could have a more personal home feel to the event. In addition to the food, guests to the event were greeted with table decorations that included leaves with conversation starters so that strangers could become friends. Festive music and a roaring fire also created a welcoming mood.

Many will lingered afterwards to take a to-go plate with leftovers or to continue conversations with new friends. Last year, the event had approximately 50 students and this year that number doubled to 100, which included spouses and children.

The program is held on Thanksgiving Day and provides an opportunity for Utah State University students to gather for a special meal. If you would like to make volunteering part of your family tradition, Residence Life would love for you to be involved for next year's event!
