Candidates for USU Chief of Police Visit Logan Campus
As part of a national search for Utah State University’s next chief of police, two candidates have been invited for on-campus interviews April 25-26. The visiting candidates are Jason T. Brei and Curtis Hooley. Additional candidates may also be invited as the position is open until filled.
Brei has 26 years in law enforcement and has worked the last two decades at the University of Arizona Police Department in various leadership positions. Hooley has served 30 years in the Logan City Police Department and currently serves as captain, managing both the patrol and investigations divisions.
Both candidates will provide a public presentation titled: "Building Bridges Between Law Enforcement and the University Community — A Model for Collaboration." The presentations will take place on the Logan campus and will be broadcast on Zoom for members of the university community throughout the state.

The chief of police serves as a primary resource and advisor to USU on matters related to law enforcement and is responsible for the comprehensive operations of USU Police. The position is based on the Logan campus and leads and directs all functions of the university police on the Logan campus and the USU Eastern campus in Price, with the goal of providing a peaceful and safe environment for students, employees and visitors to campus. This position reports to the executive director of Public Safety.
