College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences Celebrates with Scholarships and Tasty Treats
By Madison Leak |
It’s that time of year when fall, football, and food reign supreme. Utah State University’s College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (CAAS) is excited to host the annual Utah Agricultural Products Barbecue following the USU vs. Boise State University football game Sept. 25, from 1 – 3 p.m. at Craig Aston Park (1350 N. 800 E, Logan).
The barbecue will feature Utah-grown beef, dairy products, turkey, pork, onion rings, salad, lamb, corn, apples and more, all sponsored by Utah’s Own.
A collaboration between participating commodity groups, companies and USU’s CAAS, volunteers from commodity groups and the college prepare and serve the meal in an outdoor festival atmosphere where guests can try all sorts of delicious food. The event has become a beloved fall tradition at USU for the agricultural community, alumni, donors and friends.
Proceeds of the event fund scholarships that are awarded to qualifying students. Since the inception of the barbecue nearly 25 years ago, more than $256,000 has been awarded to 330 students. This year, $22,970 will be awarded to 28 students.
