Utah State Soccer Announces 2003 Schedule

The Aggies host nine home matches in 2003

Utah State soccer will play nine home matches in 2003, as the Aggies will host Utah, Gonzaga, Nevada and Idaho State in addition to Big West Conference opponents Cal State Fullerton and Pacific. The 2003 season will be the Aggies' eighth season of play as a Division I program.

"In the beginning of the season, we have some good teams to test ours team against," said Heather Cairns, head soccer coach. "A number of teams on our schedule were either in the NCAA tournament or at the top of their conference last year. Then when we get into Big West, our goal is to finish among the top four teams in the conference so we can play in the league tournament and potentially qualify for the NCAA touranment."

The Aggies finished 2002 at 8-9-3 overall and 2-6-1 in the Big West, and recorded a school-record five shutout wins in 2002. Utah State loses five starters from the 2002 squad, but returns three of its top four goal scorers in Amber Tracy, Heather Arnell and Chanel Blaquiere. The three combined for a total of 14 goals and seven assists in 2002. Goalkeeper Megan Mills also returns for Utah State.

All home games are held at Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field, dedicated in April, 2002, which is located on 1400 North at approximately 1100 East. Admission to all Aggie home soccer matches is free.
