CIDI Workshop - AI in Teaching: Application Examples

This workshop provides step-by-step examples of using generative AI for the following applications: 1) lesson plans, 2) discussion topics, 3) assignment feedback, 4) assessment questions, 5) role play scenarios, 6) Images (time permitting). By focusing on specific examples, attendees will be able to follow the same steps in their own course AI implementations, or identify ways to adapt examples to fit their unique needs.

They can be awarded to students for various accomplishments and then shared by students on social media and elsewhere as an indicator of their accomplishment or competence. Canvas has an integrated digital badging tool called Canvas Credentials (previously called Badgr). This workshop addresses how to create, award, and track digital badges.

Weber County 4-H Public Speaking, Impromptu, and Demonstration Contests

Contestants will select a topic for their speech by randomly drawing three questions/statements from a pool of topics. They will select one question/statement and return the other two. A maximum of one minute will be allowed for this process. Topics will be relative to today’s youth and may include current events, 4‐H, and/or social issues. Examples of the type of topics include: a. If I were an author, I would write about… b. One issue facing teenagers today is… c. If I could describe my personality as a tree, which tree would I be… d. What has being involved in 4‐H taught me?
A Bolder Way Forward 2nd Annual Summit
Meeting
The 2nd Annual A Bolder Way Forward (BWF) Summit focuses on making Utah a place where more girls and women can thrive in any setting (e.g., home, workplace, congregation, and community). This movement, launched in June 2023, focuses on creating societal change in Utah.
This event, hosted at Zions Bank Technology Campus, will discuss the momentum that a BWF has created since June 2023 and will provide ample time for leaders of the18 “spoke” areas to meet with their respective teams. Areas include childcare/pre-K programs, child sexual abuse, domestic violence, entrepreneurship, finances, gender pay gap, health across the lifespan, higher education attainment, home and family, K-12 initiatives, leadership development, organizational strategies and workplace culture, political and civic engagement, poverty and homelessness, sexual assault, sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination, STEM fields, and workforce development.
Come and join us for this second annual gathering to learn more and become inspired to help create change for Utah women and girls.

CIDI Workshop - AI in Teaching: Application Examples

This workshop provides step-by-step examples of using generative AI for the following applications: 1) lesson plans, 2) discussion topics, 3) assignment feedback, 4) assessment questions, 5) role play scenarios, 6) Images (time permitting). By focusing on specific examples, attendees will be able to follow the same steps in their own course AI implementations, or identify ways to adapt examples to fit their unique needs.

Principles of open channel flow and sediment transport are combined with watershed-scale, hydrologic and sediment source analysis to place channel assessment and design in the appropriate context. Tools for estimating sediment supply at the watershed to reach level are applied in class exercises. Threshold and alluvial channel design methods are presented along with guidelines for assessing and incorporating uncertainty. The course balances advance reading, lecture, field work, and hands-on exercises for estimating sediment supply, calculating sediment transport rates, and forecasting channel response to water and sediment supply. This course is intended for participants who are familiar with basic principles of river geomorphology.
