Cazier Professor Lifetime Achievement Award

Community-Engaged Faculty

This award recognizes an individual who has successfully incorporated community engaged teaching with demonstrable outcomes and/or conducted outstanding community engaged research.

D. Wynne Thorne Career Research Award

Named after USU’s first vice president for research, the D. Wynne Thorne Career Research Award is given to an individual on the USU campus who has completed outstanding research in his or her career.

Inclusive Excellence Faculty Award
A faculty member will be recognized for furthering the principles and values of affirmative action, equal opportunity, and diversity.

E.G. Peterson Extension Award

The E.G. Peterson Extension Award has been established to honor the Utah State University Extension professional who, in keeping with the mission and goals of Utah State University, has provided outstanding service to the state of Utah.

Eldon J. Gardner Teacher of the Year

The Eldon J. Gardner Teacher of the Year Award is given each year to recognize and emphasize excellence in teaching. Other scholarly activity such as research and publication records may become consideration in the selection process, but the main emphasis will be on teaching excellence as judged by faculty and students.

Faculty Researcher of the Year Award

The Vice President for Research has selected the University Faculty Researcher of the Year from the pool of College Researchers of the Year that are chosen annually by each of the eight academic colleges.

Faculty University Service Award

The Faculty University Service Award will be given each year to recognize and emphasize excellence in service to the operations and governance of the University. Recognized activities will include service at the University, College and/or Department levels and may include Libraries and Extension.

Outstanding Graduate Mentor of the Year Award

The University Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award recognizes faculty excellence in the complex process of mentoring graduate students to prepare them for productive careers. Those nominated should be effective advisors who facilitate degree completion, model sound scholarship and ethical behavior, help students understand and benefit from departmental and university resources, provide emotional support, offer constructive criticisms and involve students in publishing and other professional activities.

Undergraduate Faculty Mentor of the Year

The Faculty Mentor of the Year Award is given each year to recognize and emphasize excellence in academic advising. Other teaching and scholarly activities may become a consideration in the selection process, but the main emphasis will be on excellence in academic advising as judged by faculty and students.

Peak Undergraduate Research Mentor of the Year Award

This award was inaugurated in 2003 to recognize outstanding faculty as mentors of undergraduate researchers. Faculty who mentor undergraduate researchers are characterized as counselors and guides who encourage, instruct, and advocate. A good faculty mentor provides a role model for methods of inquiry in a field of study and for the responsible conduct of research.
