Student Awards

A Pin Award
The "A" pin is one of the oldest awards at Utah State University, initiated in 1910. It acknowledges and rewards students who achieve a straight A grade point average carrying 15 graded credit hours for two consecutive semesters. The pin itself features the primary icon of Utah State University the Old Main Tower and reads "USU Scholarship," denoting the highest in scholarly achievement.

Bill E. Robins Memorial Award
The Bill E. Robins Memorial Award is presented to the student who represents the best youth has to offer. This student has excelled academically, displayed outstanding leadership ability, shown dedication to Utah State, and possesses traits that set him or her apart as a rare individual. This award, unlike other Robins Awards, is based on total collegiate achievement.

Community-Engaged Student
This award recognizes a student or student group that takes action in pursuit of long-term positive social change. Inpsires and engages others. Demonstrates efforts to sustain their work through developing strategies for institutional and community commitment. Exhibits motivation and potential for effective long-term civic engagement.

Inclusive Excellence Student Award
A student or student organization will be recognized for furthering the principles and values of affirmative action, equal opportunity, and diversity.

Doctoral Student Researcher of the Year Award
Each college on campus selects and recognizes graduate researchers from their respective colleges. These researchers' names will then be forwarded to the Office of Research, where they will be considered for the University Doctoral Student Researcher of the Year Award.

Female Athlete of the Year
This award is presented to the individual female athlete who has demonstrated exceptional qualities of athletic skill, sportsmanship and determination and brought recognition to the Utah State University athletic program.

Geraldine Robins Memorial Award
Geraldine Robins Memorial is an award presented to a female student who has made broad significant achievements and contributions to the university during their time at USU and has exemplified those traits, which set her above other classmates.

Graduate Student Teacher of the Year
The Office of Graduate Studies receives nominations from the colleges for outstanding graduate students to be considered for University Graduate Student Teacher of the Year. (Submissions can only be made by the college deans' offices). All college Graduate Student Teachers of the Year should be submitted to be part of the selection pool, from which one will be chosen as the University Graduate Student Teacher of the Year.

Legacy of Utah State Award
The Legacy of Utah State Award is given each year to recognize and emphasize a student who represents the heart and soul of the university. Students should show a commitment to the institution and their program of study, as well as demonstrate internal involvement and service, department dedication, perseverance during times of adversity, and contribution behind the scenes.

Male Athlete of the Year Award
This award is presented to the individual male athlete who has demonstrated exceptional qualities of athletic skill, sportsmanship and determination and brought recognition to the Utah State University athletic program.

Master's Student Researcher of the Year Award
Each college on campus selects and recognizes master's researchers from their respective colleges. These researchers' names will then be forwarded to the Office of Research, where they will be considered for the University Master's Student Researcher of the Year Award.

Nicolas Robins Memorial Award
Nicolas Robins Memorial Award is an award given to a male student who has made a significant impact at the University during this year and has contributed to his and his classmates learning experience.

Organization of the Year
This award is presented to the student organization that demonstrates the excellence of the organization’s stated purpose and service to Utah State University.

Peak Prize: University & College Undergraduate Researchers of the Year Awards
In addition to being an excellent student, a notable undergraduate researcher is one who has consistently engaged in independent inquiry, through classes, student employment, and independent research grants (URCO). Students also typically seek to share their results at undergraduate research events or professional conferences.

Scholar of the Year
The Scholar of the Year Award is given each year to recognize and emphasize excellence in scholarship. Other service and student activity involvement may become a consideration in the selection process, but the main emphasis will be on scholarly achievement.

Talent of the Year
This award is presented to the individual who demonstrates an outstanding mental endowment or superior capacity in the field of music, art, or theater.

Val R. Christensen Service Award
This award, established in honor of Val R. Christensen’s outstanding lifetime contribution to volunteerism, is presented to the student or organization whose volunteer service significantly impacted Utah State University and the community. This student or organization shows a level of commitment to volunteerism exemplified by Val R. Christensen, former Vice President of Student Services at Utah State University.

Valedictorians
A valedictorian, a student who typically has the highest academic achievements of their graduating class, is selected by each college of the university. Each valedictorian selects a faculty escort.
