Proposal Process for Faculty-Led Programs

1

Develop a Program

Faculty-led study abroad programs offer a unique academic experience abroad. Share your area of expertise with students in a new setting, and inspire students through learning experiences beyond the classroom. The Office of Global Engagement and the study abroad team can help you develop a program that will influence both you and the students for years to come.

Faculty, departments, and Global Engagement's study abroad team work together to develop programs. Consider your academic area, cultural competencies for student development, activities you would like to pursue, destination(s), and logistics. Discuss your ideas with your department head and the study abroad director for guidance on how to proceed. It typically takes 12-15 months to develop a new program.

2

Propose a Program

Proposal applications are available online and require information on the program, faculty, recruitment, partner (if applicable), academics, and budget.

Deadlines

  • Spring and new summer programs: June 1, 2024
  • Recurring summer and fall programs: August 1, 2024

Start a faculty-led program proposal if you will be the only faculty leader, or if you will be the leader with primary responsibility for communicating program details.

Start a program co-leader proposal if you will be a co-leader.

3

Program Approval

Global Engagement will review the program and schedule a budget meeting with the faculty leaders and the department business services staff.

Once a budget is developed, the program will be approved by Global Engagement, the faculty leaders, the department head, the department business services staff and the college dean.
