501.1 POLICY

The use of bicycles, skateboards, and in-line skates shall be allowed only as a means of transportation on walkways and other vehicular travelways of USU. Anyone using a bicycle, skateboard, or in-line skates on USU property shall give right of way to any pedestrian and shall travel at a reasonable, safe, and prudent speed. Under no circumstance will bicycling, skateboarding, or in-line skating be allowed on ramps, curbs, benches, steps, or stairs and other such structures. The use of bicycles, skateboards, or inline skates shall not be permitted inside any building.

501.2 ENFORCEMENT

Violators of this policy shall be subject to fines. Bicycles, skateboards, and in-line skates may be impounded and will be returned upon payment of fines. If the fine is not paid and the property is not claimed within ninety (90) days, the bicycle, skateboard, or in-line skates will be subject to public sale. Enforcement shall be administered through Utah State University Police Department. The amount assessed for fines was established by the USU Security Advisory Committee. The fees are as follows:

1st Offense: Verbal warning.

2nd Offense: $25 fine and property impounded.

3rd Offense: $50 fine and property impounded.

4th and Subsequent Offenses: $50 fine or criminal charges and property impounded.

The fines are payable at the USU Police Department. Property may be picked up there also.
