I am having problems with my application and need help?

We apologize if you are having problems with your application. Most of the issues are with the social security field auto populating. To fix the issue, follow the steps below:

  1. On your application, go back and select "U.S. Citizen" instead of "International Student"
  2. Locate the social security section and clear the field
  3. Go back and select "International Student" instead of "U.S. Citizen"
  4. Complete your application

Please make sure you fill in all of the empty spaces and do not leave anything blank. If the problem is still not resolved, try using a different browser (Firefox and Internet Explorer work best). If you still have issues, feel free to submit any questions.

Do you offer full ride scholarships to international students?

No, unfortunately we do not. Utah State University is a public university meaning that it is funded by taxpayer dollars and therefore there is no funding for full ride scholarships for international students. We do offer partial scholarships and departmental scholarships for international students. For more information on scholarships visit our costs page.

Do I need multiple English proficiency scores?

No! Utah State University only requires ONE English proficiency score. Any of the following exams will work to fulfill this requirement: TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, ACT, USU’s Intensive English Language Institute Placement Exam, and others. You can review information about international undergraduate English proficiency requirements.

Do I need the ACT or SAT only to be admitted?

No. There are other forms of English proficiency test that are also accepted like the TOEFL, IELTS, and the USU’s Intensive English Language Institute placement exam. The ACT and the SAT are also accepted but are not required. If you are applying for a major within the College of Engineering, official ACT or SAT exam results are required.

Is there a fee associated with the application?

Yes. The application fee is $50 USD payable by a major credit/debit card. You will be given the option to pay once the application has been filled out. In order for your application to be reviewed the application fee must be paid.

Can I pay the application fee with wire transfer, money order, or check?

You can pay the application fee with most major credit/debit cards or through PayPal. If you have further questions, please contact us.

I tried to pay the application fee, but my card didn't work?

We apologize for the inconvenience of your credit/debit card not working. Please try to pay through our PayPal option.

Is there a fee waiver for the application fee?

No.

How much money do I have to have on my bank statement in order to apply to USU?

International undergraduate students are required to show adequate funding available for their USU study before they can apply for a student visa. Immigration laws require international students who wish to study in the U.S. on an F-1 visa to show proof of finances for one year. For more information please visit our costs page.

What kind of scholarships do you offer for international students?

There are different types of scholarships offered to international undergraduate students including: The Ambassador Scholarship, Afton B. Tew International Student Scholarship, departmental scholarships, and more. To check more information on the scholarships and the requirements for waivers go to our scholarships page.

Where can I view courses that I will take during my degree?

You can go to USU catalog where you can search your major and see the courses that you need to take. You can go to the USU Catalog and on search catalog on the upper left corner look up your major.

Does USU offer exchange programs?

How much are tuition and fees during summer semester?

Can international students work at Utah State University?

Visit the International Student & Scholar Services Portal, Student Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to learn about the steps to follow regarding employment at USU as an international student. You can also request an appointment with your immigration advisor if you have questions.

International students at Utah State University can work part-time on campus up to 20 hours a week during the school year and 40 hours a week during the summer. Once you have been admitted and receive a student number (A-number), you can search for jobs. Finding a job was never so easy!

Where are Utah State international students from?

We have students from all 50 states in the USA and 88 countries around the world. How can I get involved at Utah State University?

There are more than 200 student-run clubs and organizations to choose from, including multicultural clubs like the Asian Student Association (ASA), Latino Student Union (LSU), Polynesian Student Union, Chinese Student Association (CSA), Dominican Student association (DSA), Indian Student Association (ISA), Korean Student Association (KSA), and Saudi Arabian Student Association (SASA). There are also other departmental clubs which can be found on each department's page, and sports clubs which includes Baseball, Climbing, Cycling, Hockey, Quidditch, Rugby, Soccer, Volleyball, Water Polo, and others. For more information on sports club visit the Campus Rec Club Sports webpage.

You can also become part of the international student council which is an organization made up of student representatives from different countries with one end goal which is to unite all the international students at Utah State University. Are there any forms of transportation at USU?

There are many free transportation options in Logan. The Aggie Shuttle is a free service to help students get around campus more efficiently. Aggie Blue Bikes provides free bicycle rentals if you don't have your own bicycle. Cache Valley Transit District is a fare-free bus with routes running through the valley. Are there any stores close to USU?

Yes. We have a multiple grocery stores, crafting stores, electronic stores and the Cache Valley Mall close to USU.

How far are other places from USU? (Salt Lake, Las Vegas, California, Yellowstone, Seattle)

There are 8 national parks within 5 hours and other places like Salt Lake City is 1.5 hours, Las Vegas is 7 hours, and Yellowstone is 5 hours by car. California is 1.5 hours, and Seattle is 1.5 hours by plane.

What are some of the best places to eat in Logan?

Some of the students favorite places to eat in Logan are Angie’s Restaurant (American Food), Herm’s Inn (Breakfast), El Toro Viejo (Mexican Food), Tandoori Oven (Indian Food), Le None (Italian Restaurant), Morty’s Cafe (American), HuHot (Mongolian grill), Kabuki (Japanese Restaurant), Thai House (Thai food), and Mo’Bettah Steaks Hawaiian Food), Indian Oven (Pakistani, Middle Eastern food).

Where can I get student discounts in Logan?

Angie’s Restaurant offers a 20% off with USU student ID, Old Navy offers 10% off with USU student ID, Kabuki offers 10% off with USU ID, Smith's Grocery stores and Macey's Grocery stores give students discounts as well. These discounts are subject to change without prior notice.

Where is the closest mall/shopping center?

Cache Valley Mall is a shopping mall located in Logan, Utah that opened in 1976. It is located at 1300 North Main Street. Some of the stores that you can find here are Victoria Secret, Game Stop, Bath and Body works, PacSun, and others.
