Choosing to Report

You are encouraged to report incidents of sexual misconduct to the USU Title IX Coordinator in the Office of Equity at any time at equity.usu.edu/report. Reports may also be made during business hours by calling 435-797-1266, by visiting the Office of Equity in Distance Education, Room 400 at the Logan campus, or via email at titleix@usu.edu.

If you are unsure if you want to report to the Office of Equity, we can discuss your options with you without hearing all the details of your story.

More information about how USU addresses sexual misconduct reports is available in interim USU Policies 339 and 339A. The previous policies related to sexual misconduct are applicable to conduct alleged to have occurred August 14, 2020 or later per 34 CFRR 106 (2020). They are subject to change at any time. Information about how the university will respond to sexual misconduct incidents that occurred prior to August 14, 2020 is available in procedures for responding to pre-08142020 allegations.

Anonymous Reports

Sometimes people who have experienced sexual misconduct, or who have witnessed it, want to report this information to the university without disclosing their identity. Anonymous reports are allowed, however, anonymous reports do not always contain enough information to pursue an investigation that can lead to disciplinary action. If you choose to report anonymously, we encourage you to provide as much information as you can.

Requests for Privacy

If you do not want your name connected to the sexual misconduct incident or wish to request that no investigation or disciplinary action be pursued, these requests are evaluated in the context of USU's responsibility to provide a safe, non-discriminatory environment. If you do not want to proceed with a formal investigation, the Office of Equity will assess campus safety and determine whether it needs to proceed with an investigation. However, the office may be limited in its ability to investigate the incident without additional information.

Resources are available, both on- and off-campus, that can maintain confidentiality.

Supportive Measures

Supportive measures are designed to address safety concerns and help you continue in your education or job. You do not need to proceed with a formal investigation or alternative resolution to receive supportive measures.

Mutual No-Contact Orders

A mutual no-contact order is an administrative action to prevent contact between two or more individuals on campus. The scope of a no-contact order is determined on a case-by-case basis, but can include in-person contact or contact through electronic means or a third party. A no-contact order is not the same as a protective order, which is issued by the courts.
