Brooks Ogborn Student Teacher Rent Alleviation Program (STRAP) Scholarship:
Description: I graduated high school knowing that I wanted to teach. I realized that education careers were not known for their high-paying salaries, so I worked tirelessly to get a scholarship to pay for college. Through scholarships, I was able to pay tuition without taking any loans, and through a few part-time jobs and some generosity from my parents, I was just able to squeeze by on the rent. With the generous help of my professors, the scholarship office, and my parents, I finished my student teaching without any student loan debt. I am now working full time as a high school math teacher in the valley, and I would like to pay that generosity forward to student teachers in need of financial help. |
