SSAVI provides safe and confidential advocacy for survivors of interpersonal violence. Advocacy is trauma-informed, survivor-centered and empowerment-based Our services are available to USU students on all campuses regardless of where the incident took place.

Choosing to report can be difficult. SSAVI Advocates can help you understand your reporting options and rights so you can make an informed decision about how you want to move forward.
Many students aren’t taught how healthy relationships, abuse and consent look. Our office offers presentations to student groups and strives to educate students in order to prevent harm.
Planning to leave a harmful situation or keep yourself safe may be complicated. Our advocates can help you establish safe resources and a detailed plan that’s best for you.
Secondary trauma is very real and affects many support people in a survivor’s life. Our advocates can support a friend, family member or other loved one of a survivor as well.

Navigating which types of support each office provides can be overwhelming. SAAVI advocates can help match your mental health, legal, financial and other needs to resources that can assist you.
SAAVI has a Domestic Violence Community Justice Advocate (DVCJA) who is authorized to provide legal services related to Utah Civil Protective Orders and Stalking Injunctions. DVCJAs are not attorneys and can only provide legal advice and assistance related to civil protective orders and civil stalking injunctions.
What to Expect
Step 1
Fill out client paperwork. Once the paperwork is received, a confidential advocate will contact you to schedule a time to meet.
Step 2
You will have an initial meeting with an advocate via zoom.
Step 3
This is your journey; we will never tell you what to do. You decide how you would like to move forward with your journey and how your advocate can support you. Regardless of whether you need tools for self-care and grounding, info on healthy relationships or want to pursue a legal/Title IX investigation, your advocate will stand by and support you for as long as you need. There is no set limit to the number of appointments or length of time we can meet with you.
