Stories that Unite Us: 2017

Each of us has our own story, a narrative that is deeply relevant to who we are. Seven Aggies have shared their own. Whether their stories sound familiar to yours or challenge the way you think, they are definitely worth listing to. These are the stories of Aggie Heroes: stories that unite us.

Speaker Biographies

Anna Bodily

Anna Bodily is completing her third year at Utah State toward a BFA in Acting. You may have seen her before in Sideways Stories from Wayside School, or Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Anna works as a Resident Assistant in the Living Learning Community. She is a passionate intersectional feminist, and proud queer woman. A special thanks must go out to Anna's mom, SueAnn Bodily, for raising her to speak up and act out. If you would like to see more of Anna's work, check out the Lyric Repertory Theatre in downtown Logan this summer. And of course, all her love, to her little black cat Binx.

Evelyn Hernandez

Evelyn Hernandez is a current Master's student in the Social Work program. She has been heavily involved with the Access and Diversity Center on campus and considers it her home away from home. She hopes to one day work in higher education helping underrepresented students. Today, she will be talking more about her own journey with mental health and learning to accept herself.

Macy Keith

Macy Marin Keith is the LGBTQA+ program coordinator who works with USU students, staff, and faculty to create an inclusive environment on campus. She believes that inclusion and celebrating diversity is possible through work, hope, and a willingness to engage in difficult conversations. Macy serves on the Aggie Think Care Act committee, Interfaith Initiative, the Sexual Assault Task Force, and Allies on Campus. Macy holds an Interdisciplinary Degree in Social Work, Women and Gender studies, and Communications from Utah State University and will be resuming her education this fall by starting her Master’s in American Studies.

Katie White

Katie White was raised in Fontana, California before moving to Duchesne, Utah during her high school years. She is studying Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcast at Utah State University. She hopes to take these skills into the field of documentary film. White is passionate about storytelling. It is her life goal to cover the important topics that often go unheard and to help people tell their own inspiring stories. Outside of school, White is a full-time manager in a craft store and thoroughly enjoys getting to explore her artistic skills such as painting, woodworking, and paper crafting. She is also passionate about mental wellness. White is trained and certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Talk Saves Lives.

Anonymous Aggie

Passionate about social justice and helping the community, I hope to open up my own non-profit organization to help first generation students. I also enjoy random road trips, chasing food trucks and spending time with friends. I like to be reliable to people and giving 110% to everything I do, other cultures interest me and I think everyone in this world has something different to offer you.

Lora Stead

A Draper, Utah native, Lora Stead now enjoys living in Logan with her tall, dark, and handsome husband and small, dark and handsome son. She will soon complete a Master of Second Language Teaching here at Utah State. Lora enjoys teaching an ESL reading class on campus and hopes to find a part time teaching job after she graduates. Lora loves to travel and has visited Asia, Central America, and Europe where she completed a creative writing program at Oxford University. When she’s not chasing her toddler or studying, Lora can be found practicing yoga, reading, and exercising with friends.

Brock Christian Wilson

Brock Christian Wilson is an English major with an emphasis in Creative Writing, with a minor in Gender and Women’s studies. An advocate for women and LGBTQ+ individuals, Brock is inspired by music (namely Demi Lovato), the artistry of drag (namely Trixie Mattel, and the many strong, brilliant women he surrounds himself with.
