Colleagues,

I have a number of Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) announcements for June:

First, we are pleased to announce the release of a new research and policy brief titled “The Impact of COVID-19 on Utah Women and Work: Childcare and Homeschooling.” Thanks to my co-researchers Drs. Jared Hansen and Chris Hartwell (Jon M. Huntsman School of Business) for their fabulous work on this brief. This brief is the third in a series of related reports being released in 2021.

Second, we are excited to announce that Marin Christensen has accepted the position of Associate Director and Angie Kleven as the Statewide Community Outreach Manager for the UWLP. We appreciate the Utah legislative funding to make this happen. You can read more details in this press release.

Third, we have relaunched the Utah Women & Leadership Podcast Series in partnership with Utah Public Radio (UPR). We will release new episodes each month moving forward. This month we have released two new episodes:

1. Feeling Like a Fraud: Navigating Perfectionism & Impostor Syndrome as Women - This 36-minute episode brings you the highlights from a November 2020 online Women’s Leadership Forum that explored these issues. I’m joined by Aimee Winder Newton, former 2020 candidate for Utah governor and current Salt Lake County Councilwoman; Ally Isom, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer for ATTOSTAT; and Denise Lindberg, former judge of the Third District Court in Utah.
2. Exploring the Intersectionality of Race & Gender - This 35-minute episode discusses the intersections of gender and race, and gives you the highlights from a September 2020 online Women’s Leadership Forum. I’m joined by Sui Lang L. Panoke, founder of Rethink International; Michelle Love-Day, an educator with nearly two decades of experience, and founder of the online virtual academy RISE!; Christy Glass, Professor of Sociology and the Interim Director of the Center for Intersectional Gender Studies & Research at Utah State University; and LaShawn Williams, licensed professional social worker and co-founder of The Black Clinicians.
