Colleagues,

Good morning. Happy Women’s History Month! I have a number of Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) announcements for March:

First, we are pleased to announce the release of three new research summaries: Poverty & Homelessness, Workforce Development, and Home & Family. In partnership with A Bolder Way Forward (BWF) leaders, the UWLP conducted a fall statewide survey to establish a baseline of public perceptions related to the awareness, understanding, and attitudes around challenges that Utah women and girls face. To learn more about the study, review this document (Background & Methods) and check out the others already published.

Second, in celebration of Women’s History Month, we have an online event titled, “Utah Women in Society – A Living Room Conversation” coming up (RSVP online) on March 21 from 12:00-1:15pm. We are partnering with Living Room Conversations, and it is a unique event. You’ll be in small group (4-6 people) conversations for much of this with a guided plan and intriguing questions. It will be in a Zoom “meeting” format, and you’ll want to have your cameras on for this experience. We are excited about these discussions!

Third, we have a few UWLP resources to highlight this month:

• Podcast Episodes (with Utah Public Radio): The Current Status of Utah Women and Girls: A Research Synopsis, BWF: Health Across the Lifespan, and New Research: Childcare & Gender Pay Gap
• Event Videos: Women in Leadership Executive Speaker Series: Nontraditional Fields (Trina Higgins & Ally Isom), News Media (Ruth Todd & Melanie Jones), Healthcare (Drs. Donna Milavetz & Gina Hawley), Finance (Jacki Zehner & Sharlene Wells), Traditional Industries (Jill Koziol & Vanessa Quigley), Inclusion & Belonging (Sui Lang L. Panoke & Nikki Walker), and Women Focused Organizations (Samira Harnish & Liz Owens)

Fourth, we wanted to make you aware of our page that lists programs specifically for girls and young women (K-12). This list includes camps for girls during the summer. Let us know if you are aware of others not on our list!

• March 12 (11:00am-1:00pm) - Equal Pay Day Event (BWF Gender Pay Gap Spoke)
• March 14 (six-month cohort) - Rising Leader Series (Women’s Leadership Institute)
• March 16 (8:30am-2:30pm) - Annual Training (Utah Women Run)
• March 19 (11:00am-1:00pm) - How Women Have Influenced Change and Can Continue to Drive Positive Impact in our Communities (Business Women’s Forum)
• March 20 (11:30am-1:30pm) - A Bolder Way Forward Childcare Spoke Launch Event (BWF Childcare/Pre-K Spoke)
• March 20 (6:30pm-8:30pm) - She Can I Can (Utah Valley Women Leadership Collaborative)
• May 21 (11:00am-1:00pm) - Sorry, Am I Apologizing Too Much? (Business Women’s Forum)
