Recycling Center and Drop-off Areas

Our Dropoff areas are at the Recycling Center, Aggie Village, and Student Housing Areas.

The Recycling Center is open Monday- Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm except University holidays. Please call us if you would like to tour our facilities or if you have any questions.

Drop-off area for recycling

Recycling Center Drop-off

Our Drop-off Area at the Recycling Center is available to USU Faculty, Staff, and Students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is located on the northeast side of the Recycling Center.

Items accepted at the Recycling Center Drop-off Area include:
(Listed as they should be sorted there)

  • Mixed Paper —white and colored office paper, shredded paper (please place in bags), newspapers, magazines, books, phone books, cardstock, paperboard, envelopes with or without windows, cereal boxes, egg cartons, etc; (Place in the designated cage)
  • Glass bottles —green, brown, and clear glass; (Remove and discard lids and place bottles in the designated box by color- blue and other colors not specifically listed go with green glass)
  • Corrugated Cardboard; (Please remember to flatten it and place in designated cage)
  • Aluminum Cans; (Place in designated box- these can be crushed to save space)
  • Plastics #1 [PETE] (Pop Bottles etc); (Remove and discard lids but not labels, and place in designated box- crushing them saves space)
  • Plastics #2 [HDPE] Clear (Milk Jugs etc); (Remove and discard lids but not labels, and place in designated box- crushing them saves lots of space)
  • Plastics #2 [HDPE] Colored (Laundry Soap Bottles etc); (Remove and discard lids but not labels, and place in designated box- crushing them saves lots of space)
  • Tin/Steel Cans ; (Rinse major food items from cans but washing and removing labels not necessary- remember to save water too! Place in designated box)
  • Batteries ; (Place in yellow bucket near paper cage)
  • Scrap Metal ; (Place in huge blue cage near fence- please no drums, refrigerators or items containing freon)
  • Wooden Pallets ; (Please stack near fence on East side of drop-off area)
  • Rigid, White Packing Styrofoam ; (Please NO Packing Peanuts or messy food containers- place in designated box)

Aggie Village Drop-off

Our other Drop-off Area (for residents of Aggie Village and the Townhouses) is in the north parking lot of Aggie Village along East Stadium Drive.

It too is accessible for dropping off materials 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Items accepted at the Aggie Village Drop-off Area include (Listed as they should be sorted there):

  • Mixed Paper —colored office paper, newspapers, magazines, books, phone books, cardstock, cereal boxes, egg cartons, etc; (Place in one of the designated boxes)
  • White Paper —white office paper, notebook paper, copy paper (Place in blue rectangle bins between the boxes)
  • Glass bottles —green, brown, and clear glass; (Place in one of the designated blue round bins)
  • Corrugated Cardboard - (Please remember to flatten it and place in cage near truck)
  • Aluminum and Tin/Steel Cans ; (Place in designated box; rinse major food from cans but you can leave the labels)
  • Plastics #1 [PETE] (Pop Bottles); (Remove and discard lids but no need to rinse or remove labels- place in designated box)
  • #2 [HDPE] Colored and Clear ; (Remove and discard lids and crush to save space)
  • Batteries (Just small ones, not car batteries ; (Place in yellow bucket near blue bins)

Other Student Housing Drop-offs

Other Roll-off Containers are available for residents of other student housing areas on campus. Locations include:

  • The Towers, East Side
  • The Junction, West Side
  • Merrill Hall, North Side
  • Snow Hall, West Side
  • San Juan Hall, West Side
  • Rich Hall, North Side
  • Trailer Court, Northwest Side
  • Aggie Village, Southeast Side
  • West Stadium Villa- West Side
  • Blue Square

Items accepted in these Roll-off containers include: (Listed as they should be sorted there)

  • Mixed Paper —white and colored office paper, newspapers, magazines, books, phone books, cardstock, cereal boxes, egg cartons, etc; (Place in designated area)
  • Co-mingled Containers —green, brown, and clear glass, aluminum cans, plastics #1 [PETE], and #2 [HDPE] Colored and Clear; Tin/Steel Cans; (Remove lids where applicable and place all of the above together in designated area)
  • Corrugated Cardboard; (Please flatten and place in front part of cage)
