Student Support and Advocacy

Support Through Connection

Reporting

The Inclusion Center reaffirms the principle of inclusion as described in USU Policy 305: “Utah State University is committed to providing an environment free from harassment and other forms of discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, age (40 and older), disability, or status as a protected veteran. Consistent with its prohibition against sex discrimination, Utah State University prohibits and is committed to addressing and preventing sexual violence.”

Social Climate Support Team

The Social Climate Support Team works with students and employees to provide support when an individual has experienced bias, racism, or microaggressions. As an institution of higher education, we welcome a broad array of expression and thought from many different perspectives. Behaviors and speech that show bias hate are harmful to not only those who experience them, but to our broader university community.

Advocacy

Our team is dedicated to acting on behalf of students and is committed to representing the concerns of marginalized student communities. You can choose to schedule an appointment and meet with us one-on-one or just stop into our offices for support. About the Social Climate Support Team.

We also work collaboratively with campus partners to foster an inclusive campus climate characterized by civility and mutual respect.

CARE Office

Connect, Assist, Refer, Empower (CARE) Mission

The CARE Team provides proactive support to the USU community, including meeting directly with students and through collaboration with our partners on campus. CARE Managers provide direct support to students related to social, health, academic, and other concerns affecting their well-being. They do so by providing assistance in navigating the Utah State University systems, resources, and policies. They meet with students to provide one-on-one support, connect them with resources, and for follow up services.

CARE Managers can help students with the following challenges:

  • Accessing healthcare
  • Connecting with a mental health provider and other mental health resources
  • Financial concerns
  • Addressing difficulties with access to food or other necessities
  • Identifying and connecting with academic supports, such as academic accommodations
