Seeking Employment

Finding a job can be an important aspect of being a responsible student.

Employment Opportunities for International Students

International students can work on campus and make excellent student employees. Many on-campus programs seek international students as employees because of their hard work, dedication, and motivation.

While not all students have the time and energy to work a job in addition to taking classes, seeking on-campus employment as an international student is a great way to supplement your funding for school.

To begin the process of seeking employment on campus, follow these steps:

  1. Do not begin searching for on-campus employment until after you have arrived in the country and checked in with the Office of Global Engagement.
  2. Only search for employment on campus, as seeking employment outside of university employment is prohibited.
  3. Use the Aggie Handshake website to search for available positions at Utah State University. Be careful, though, as many positions listed are not for the main campus in Logan.
  4. After you've found a job, completed the applications process, and been offered a position, visit the Office of Global engagement to receive work authorization.
  5. Finally, you'll need to apply for a Social Security card. Work with the Office of Global Engagement to complete this process. More information can be found on Employment Checklist PDF and Applying for a Social Security Card PDF.
