Check-In With Global Engagement

In order to validate their non-immigrant status, all international students are required to login to the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) Portal below:

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) Portal

Login to the ISSS Portal with your A-number and strong password. Complete and submit the "Immigration Check-in" request found under the "Student Forms" tab AFTER you arrive in Logan, Utah and register for classes. For a tutorial on how to check-in, please visit: https://youtu.be/Zk8KT4iaEGw.

The ISSS Portal is a one-stop hub for all SEVIS or immigration requests processed through the Office of Global Engagement. The ISSS Portal will simplify and expedite the processes for immigration requests.

You will need the following documents to check in:

  1. Passport
  2. I-20 or DS-2019
  3. Visa
  4. I-94

Students who do not check in will be considered out of status.

Incoming exchange students and sponsored students should work with the USU immigration advisors, in the Office of Global Engagement, to make sure that they have completed all necessary paperwork.

The Office of Global Engagement is located on the south side of the Military Science Building, Room 115:

Immunizations at USU

USU recommends that all students be immunized for:

  • COVID-19
  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
  • Polio
  • TDaP (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis)
  • Varicella
  • After foreign travel or foreign residence for more than eight weeks, you should have a TB skin test to ensure you were not infected with tuberculosis.
  • Meningitis

USU encourages students to consult with their medical providers about receiving any immunizations and to carefully review any information provided to them by vaccine distributors.

USU does not require students to enter their immunization records.

If you would like to receive or update your immunizations, you can contact your local health department or primary care medical provider. You may also contact the Student Health and Wellness Center at 435-797-1660 to learn how to be immunized.

J-1 Insurance Requirements

All J-1 visa holders and their accompanying dependents are required by law to be insured the entire duration of their program regardless of whether or not they are physically present in the United States.

For more information, please visit the Office of Global Engagement website that outlines insurance requirements.
