The USU Piano area and Youth Conservatory are excited to announce this year's PianoFest, an educational and competitive event designed to give piano students the opportunity to set repertoire goals, to receive constructive feedback for their performances, and earn opportunities for prizes and other awards.

The event is open to pre-college students of all ages and abilities living in the Intermountain Area. In each division, students will play their piece for judges. Following the performance, students will receive written feedback. Students can register to compete in one or more divisions, and will be grouped into categories by age. This is an open competition, anybody is welcome to listen to students perform.

At 1:00 pm families will gather in the Russell/Wanlass Performance Hall for an Award Ceremony where a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize will be awarded and 1st place winners perform. The registration deadline is March 1. All applicants will receive their room and time assignment one week before the event.

Division Registration Fee  Information
Method Book $15 Ages 12 and under, piece should be selected from method books like Faber, Alfred, Bastien, etc. Suzuki books and other collections featuring classical repertoire does not qualify.
Baroque $15 Piece composed between 1600-1750
Classical $15 Piece composed between 1750-1830
Romantic/Impressionistic $15 Piece composed between 1830-1925
Contemporary Classical $15 Classical piece composed between 1925-present
Contemporary Non-Classical $15 This can be an arrangement or original work by composers such as Vandall, Bober, Schmidt, Alexander, etc.
