Welcome to the Old Main Society

The Old Main Society is Utah State University’s premier giving society. It honors generous donors, past and present, who have helped create and preserve the university’s legacy of distinction and excellence in research, teaching and service. As a member, you advance this rich heritage and empower USU with the resources it needs to continue thriving as a dynamic and diverse institution.

The Old Main Society embodies the margin of excellence essential to delivering the educational and research opportunities that make USU unique, opportunities for which public funding may not always be readily available. Your support ensures the university may continue its legacy as one of excelling at the land-grant mission — the very soul of the institution — to welcome all who want to learn and grow.

Membership is based on cumulative giving. Gifts of cash, securities, real estate or insurance premiums, employer matches, gifts in kind and documented planned gifts are all counted toward your Old Main Society membership level.

For any questions concerning Old Main Society membership, please contact University Advancement at 435-797-3326. www.usu.edu/oldmainsociety

Center Panel
On April 16, 1889, USU Trustees and Utah Territorial Governor Caleb G. West, chose the spot where Old Main sits today. As the oldest building on the Utah State University campus, and the oldest academic building still in use in the state of Utah, Old Main provided the foundation for excellence that USU is known for today.

In 1909 the senior class gift funded an “A” to be placed on the west side of Old Main tower, followed by the classes of 1914 and 1915 that raised funds for hand-played chimes that ring out from the iconic tower.

These students began the tradition of giving back to the university --- a tradition that continues today --- thanks to important donors who provide the level of impactful giving that signifies membership in the Old Main Society.
