Learning Objective IV
PhD and Master's Plan A & B graduates will demonstrate a contribution of new knowledge via a thesis or dissertation and through original research culminating in publication.
The assessment criteria for this objective are:
- Students demonstrate knowledge of theory, principles, and methodologies within their area of expertise.
- Students demonstrate a strong ability to perform original research. Students write a solid thesis/dissertation that confirms mastery of the field and demonstrates the solution to research problems.
- Students demonstrate the ability to co-author articles with their major professor and publish articles in reputable peer-reviewed conferences and/or journals.
Each year, in conjunction with their major professors, our graduate students co-author and publish research papers in reputable peer-reviewed conferences and journals.
The table below summarizes the number of publications co-authored by our graduate students each year. It should be noted that this summary is not complete since it only contains the list of the research papers co-authored with the current CS faculty members.
In the past seven years, the graduate students co-authored 160 research articles, which demonstrates that the graduate students have the strong ability to perform original research and share their research findings within their research community.
