Graduate School Candidates


The minimum criteria for acceptance into my lab and the Department of Watershed Sciences at Utah State University can be found here. Students who do not meet the minimum criteria need not apply.

Highly-qualified and interested graduate student candidates should send the following documents to phaedra.budy@usu.edu:

  1. CV or resume
  2. Letter of interest
  3. Full contact information for 3 people you wish to use as a reference, and of whom you would ask for a recommendation (note, I do not need the letters yet)
  4. Informal copies of undergraduate transcripts
  5. Your GRE scores (you can just email the score informally)
  6. Timeline (e.g., when could you start)

Post-doctoral Fellow Candidates


Highly qualified and interested post-doctoral fellow candidates should send the following documents to phaedra.budy@usu.edu:

  1. CV or resume
  2. Letter of interest
  3. Full contact information for 3 people you wish to use as a reference, and of whom you would ask for a recommendation (note, I do not need the letters yet)
  4. Timeline (e.g., when could you start)

NOTE: I am currently seeking motivated and independent post-doctoral candidates who are interested in drafting a NSF post-doctoral fellowship proposal to work on fish population dynamics and climate change associated with the Toolik NSF LTER program, located in northern Alaska.

Technician and Internship Candidates


We generally start the process of hiring summer technicians and interns in January, prior to the start of each spring or summer field season. With several ongoing projects, we may begin field work as early as 5 May or as late as 1 July. Field work continues through August or even into September.

Highly-motivated and interested technician and internship candidates should send the following documents to gary.thiede@usu.edu:

  1. CV or resume
  2. Letter of interest
  3. Full contact information with email addresses for at least 3 people you wish to use as a reference
  4. Timeline (e.g., when could you start, when must you end)
