The Center aims to support inclusive teaching across USU’s curriculum. The Intersections Teaching Fellowship provides up to $1,500 annually to those seeking to revise or develop courses that support the Center's intersectional gender studies mission and curriculum.
Application Requirements
- Completed Cover Page (Name, contact information, title or role at USU, department or unit)
- Proposal (2 pages)
- Description of the course(s) and anticipated teaching schedule.
- Description of the course’s contribution to the Center’s mission.
- Description of the course’s role in the department/program, including any course designations (e.g., BSS, DSS, CI, QI, etc.), enrollment caps and/or recent enrollments.
- Summary of the benefits of this course to applicant’s career and USU students.
- Curriculum Vitae
- Statement from Program or Department Head approving course’s inclusion in applicant’s teaching load/rotation. (Not required for courses with the "IGS" prefix designation.)
- Submit all materials in a single PDF to intersections@usu.edu.
Fellowship Details
- Applicants must be current USU faculty at any rank (including post-docs) in any college or department who are teaching a course relevant to the Center’s intersectional gender research mission. For further guidance on how courses could be revised to be more inclusive, please see the application guidelines.
- Preference will be given to early career faculty and courses that will contribute to the Center's curricular clusters: (1) race, ethnicity and Indigenous studies, (2) sexuality and the body, (3) global and transnational issues, and/or (4) science, technology and the environment.
- Teaching Fellows are expected to:
- Participate in an Inclusive Teaching Development Workshop.
- Serve on the Teaching Innovations Grant review committee.
- Be included on the Teaching Fellows section of the Center’s website.
- Teach a new or revised course within two years of receipt of the grant.
