Confidential Support and Advocacy

SAAVI provides safe and confidential advocacy for survivors of interpersonal violence. Our services are free to USU students, staff, and faculty and their family members, if they are a secondary survivor.

A survivor's role is to heal from their experience, and a SAAVI advocate can help remove barriers to healing. All professional advocates go through a 40-hour training that covers the effects of interpersonal violence, trauma-informed response, and how to help survivors utilize resources. In addition, SAAVI advocates go through a 24-hour training that covers information specific to USU, as well as an LGBTQIA+ Allies training.

What Advocacy Is

Advocacy is trauma-informed, victim-centered, empowerment-based, and confidential. Advocacy is available to any student in the campus community regardless of where or when an incident took place.

What Advocacy Is Not

Advocacy is not a report to the university (advocates are confidential), therapy, legal advice, or medical advice.
