Opportunities
Empowering Teaching Excellence
Utah State University’s Center for Empowering Teaching Excellence (ETE), led by the Office of the Provost and Chief Academic Officer, offers training, events and resources designed to elevate and promote a culture of teaching excellence throughout USU’s campuses. ETE is open to all who teach at USU, regardless of role statement or campus, including graduate student instructors.
The ETE Center offers “ETE 10 – Explore College Teaching Track” specifically for graduate students, which enables them to earn the Explore College Teaching Certificate.
STEM Outreach
Utah State students can pursue varied opportunities in STEM outreach, providing learning about science throughout their communities to people of all ages. The public relations specialist in the College of Science Dean’s Office, and staff at USU’s statewide campuses, can guide students to community requests.
Science Unwrapped
Established in 2009, Science Unwrapped is the College of Science’s public outreach program serving the Cache Valley, Utah community. During the academic year, monthly Science Unwrapped events, free and open to all ages, are held on Friday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Eccles Science Learning Center. Each gathering begins with a presentation by a featured speaker in ESLC 130, followed by hands-on learning opportunities conducted by student and community groups in the ESLC atrium
Student Organizations
Getting involved in a club with students who share your interests is a great way to make friends, network with professionals and enhance your graduate school experience. Many of USU’s clubs are student chapters of national, professional organizations and societies, which puts you in touch with a broader network of scholars in your field, and affords you opportunities to participate in regional, national and international conferences.
Graduate Training Series
USU’s School of Graduate Studies, in coordination with units throughout the university, including the Office of Research and University Libraries, provides regular workshops geared to graduate students on a variety of topics, along with monthly socials.
