Work Study
The VA work-study program can help you earn money by working a part-time job as a student. You may be able to obtain a work-study position if you are receiving VA education benefits and attending USU at least 75% full-time, depending on the availability of positions. Some students are in work-study positions at the Veterans Resource Office.

Veteran and Military Family Focused Scholarships and Grants
Deana and Paul Strunk Military Veterans Scholarship Program
Deana and Paul Strunk Military Veterans Scholarship Program is designed to promote the advancement of student veterans or their military dependents educational geoscience programs at the undergraduate level.
Pat Tillman Foundation
Pat Tillman Foundation identifies remarkable military service members, veterans and spouses, empowering them with academic scholarships, lifelong leadership development opportunities and a diverse, global community of high-performing mentors and peers.
Boren Awards
The Boren Awards fund the intensive study of language and culture abroad by U.S. undergraduate or graduate students. All eligible applicants have the option to either apply for a Regional Flagship Language Initiative or select/design their own study program.
Gilman-McCain Scholarship
The John S. McCain International Scholarship for Military Families (Gilman-McCain Scholarship) is a congressionally funded initiative provides awards of $5,000 for child and spousal dependents of active or activated United States military personnel during the time of application to study or intern abroad on credit-bearing programs.
The Lance Corporal Michael J. Allred Scholarship
The Lance Corporal Michael J. Allred Scholarship Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Scholarships will be awarded to students who plan to attend Utah State University, or any of the off campus locations. The deadline for the scholarship is 01 April 2024. The Scholarship awardees must plan to attend on a full-time basis. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of the student’s sense of patriotism, academic performance, community, and financial need. The scholarships will be divided between two semesters into allotments of $500 each. The scholarships can be used for tuition and fees, housing, and books. Those receiving the awards will be notified in early May of 2024.
Veteran Tuition Gap Program
The Veterans Tuition Gap Program (Vet Gap) is a state funded grant to provide tuition assistance to help veterans complete their first Bachelor’s degree. Vet Gap provides tuition assistance up to full tuition for students in the final year of their program. Apply soon, contact the Veterans Resource Office to get on the “first come first serve” Vet Gap list.

Veterans Lounge
The Veterans Lounge is a beautiful space in the VRO where Service Members, Veterans, and their Families (SMVF) can relax, study, spend time with friends, eat lunch, enjoy some complimentary refreshments, and even catch a few z’s in between classes. The lounge is equipped with two large screen cable televisions, Nintendo Switch, X-Box, a fireplace for those long, cold, Cache Valley winters, and more:
