Mission
Our mission is to facilitate equal access to all university programs, services, and activities by collaborating with the university community, promoting principles of Universal Design, celebrating disability as a natural aspect of diversity, and coordinating reasonable accommodations.
The Role of the Disability Resource Center
The Disability Resource Center (DRC) is designated by the University to provide centralized services, resources, and programs that facilitate equal access for disabled students, and guests of the University. Faculty, program sponsors, service units, nor unit administrators may independently deny a request for accommodation. In general, it is the responsibility of the employee or student to make her/his disability status and subsequent need for an accommodation known.
The DRC works with individuals, faculty, and staff to ensure that students with disabilities can fully participate in university programs, services, and activities. The center helps individuals with disabilities overcome barriers that could otherwise limit their academic, professional, and personal potential. These barriers may be architectural, attitudinal, or related to university programs.
The DRC coordinates services for any USU student at any location within the USU Statewide Campus system. All accommodations provided to on-campus students are available for online and regional campus students. The application process is the same. Through an interactive process, DRC determines whether individuals are eligible for reasonable accommodation and, if so, the nature of the reasonable accommodation.
