About the Community

Living Here

The Living Learning Community is an inviting area with a community of diverse students. The majority of students that live in the LLC come from out of state and are primarily freshmen- and sophomore-level students. Students who live here also have the support of many Residence Life Staff members.

Its prime location near the Taggart Student Center (TSC), Fieldhouse, Aggie Recreation Center (ARC), and Quad make it the perfect place to live in order to be involved in activities around campus. Another exciting way to meet students who have the same interests is to join one of the LLC’s themed housing communities: Honors House (Building C), Sustainability & Social Action (Building E), and Aggie Involvement (Building D).

Residents living in the Living Learning Community have access to:

Traditions

Every year, the LLC hosts many popular events free of charge. Our most notable event is "Casino Night", where residence can enjoy all the gambling pleasures and phenomenal food of Vegas right outside their room!

We also plan an area-wide Pep Rally at the beginning of the year where residents can indulge in games, shows, and artistic opportunities.

Area Council

Area Council is a great way for residents to get involved in their community. It's similar to a student council. Membership is free and it's always open to new recruits. Active members have added benefits of free lock-outs, a chance to apply for scholarships, leadership retreats and networking.

Residents participating in Area Council are given the opportunity to plan programs for their area with the assistance of an adviser and a healthy budget courtesy of the USU Residence Hall Association. Area Council places a heavy focus on advocacy initiatives, allowing residents to make a great impact in the community. In addition, Area Council provides many leadership opportunities and serves as a great résumé builder.

  • Choose a cold water setting to save energy
  • Wash only full loads

For best drying results:

  • Clean dryer filter before use

What To Bring

Ideas

Our Pinterest page has some great visual ideas and suggestions for what to bring. You can also see what things are best to leave at home.

Make Your "Home Away From Home"

Bring these items and make it your "home away from home."

  • Bedding: sheets, blankets, pillow, pillowcases, and bedspread. Mattresses are 36” x 80” (Twin XL, longer than a regular twin bed)
  • Towels and toiletries
  • Laundry basket
  • Alarm clock
  • Stereo, radio
  • Computer
  • Clothes iron
  • Wall decor, throw pillows, various decorative items as desired.

(Please do not use anything that may damage the walls to hang décor. We recommend using Command Picture Hanging Strips/Hooks by 3M)

In addition to your personal belongings, you will need items for your kitchenette. Check with your roommates in advance to avoid duplication. You may even want to wait until after you move in and purchase items after consulting each other. The following is a list of possibilities:

  • Dishes, silverware, glasses, can opener
  • Dishtowels, dishcloths, hot pads
  • Salt and pepper shakers

Storage space in all buildings is very limited. Please plan accordingly.

Housekeeping & Maintenance

Residents are responsible for cleaning their suite, which includes the bathrooms and should stock household cleaning supplies and toilet paper. Vacuum cleaners can be checked out for temporary use at the area office. Repairs and regular maintenance of residence halls is done by Housing Facilities staff. Residence may submit maintenance requests.
