Things to Bring

Basic List of Essential Items

  • Bedding: Sheets, blankets, pillow, pillowcases, and bedspread.
  • Mattress Sizes:
    • Blue Square Private Room = Full, 54" x 74" (Queen size sheets recommended)
    • Everywhere Else = Twin XL, 36" x 80" x 6"
  • Alarm clock
  • Stereo, radio
  • Computer
  • Towels and toiletries
  • Laundry basket
  • Television
  • Wall decor, throw pillows, various decorative items as desired (3M Command adhesive products are the only products that have been approved for use in securing posters, pictures, and other decorations to walls and other surfaces.)

Storage space in all buildings is extremely limited, so please plan accordingly.

Individual Options for Apartment Residents

This applies to Merrill, Moen, Greaves, Reeder, Bullen, Davis, Jones, Rich, Morgan, San Juan, Wasatch, Summit, Snow Halls, and the Blue Square Apartments.

In addition to your personal belongings, you will need items for your kitchen. Since you need only one of many items, check ahead with your roommate(s) if possible to avoid duplication. You may even want to wait until you get to Logan and purchase items here after consulting each other. The following is a list of possibilities: 

  • Dishes, silverware, glasses, serving dishes
  • Mixing bowls, hand mixer
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Salt and pepper shakers
  • Dishtowels, dishclothes
  • Hot pads
  • Pots and pans
  • Dish drainer
  • Egg beater
  • Strainer
  • Can opener
  • Cheese Grater
  • Clothes iron

Residents are responsible for cleaning their apartment, which includes the bathroom and should stock household cleaning supplies and toilet paper. Residents are encouraged to bring a vacuum. However, if needed there are limited a number of vacuums available to rent. Repairs and regular maintenance of residence halls is done by Housing Facilities staff. Residents may submit maintenance requests online.

In addition to your personal belongings, you will need items for your kitchenette. Since you need only one of many items, check ahead with your roommate(s) if possible to avoid duplication. You may even want to wait until you get to Logan and purchase items here after consulting each other. The following is a list of possibilities:

  • Dishes, silverware, glasses
  • Can opener
  • Dishtowels, dishcloths
  • Hot pads
  • Salt and pepper shakers
  • Clothes iron (ironing boards are available in laundry rooms)

Residents are responsible for cleaning their apartment, which includes the bathroom and should stock household cleaning supplies and toilet paper. Residents are encouraged to bring a vacuum. However, if needed there are limited a number of vacuums available to rent.. Repairs and regular maintenance of residence halls is done by Housing Facilities staff. This applies to Richards Hall and Mountain View Tower.

In addition to your personal belongings, you may want to bring the following. Since you need only one of many items, check ahead with your roommate(s) if possible to avoid duplication. You may even want to wait until you get to Logan and purchase items here afer consulting each other. The following is a list of possibilities:

  • Small refrigerator and/or microwave. State fire code requires that any appliance be plugged directly into the wall outlet. If you bring an appliance make sure that the cord is at least 5 feet long.
  • Pots, pans and any other cooking supplies to use in the community kitchen

Bathroom and common areas are regularly cleaned by Housing Facilities staff. Residents are responsible for the regular upkeep of their rooms and should stock simple household cleaning supplies. Residents are encouraged to bring a vacuum. However, if needed there are limited a number of vacuums available to rent.
