LASER at USU

Originally founded at The Ohio State University in 2009, LASER (Latinx Space for Engagement and Retention), is a nationally-recognized program that focuses on the scholarship and mentoring of Latinx students. It provides a forum for faculty, staff, and students to build a scholarly community on campus.

10/23/2019, Dr. Frederick Aldama and the LCC held a LASER information meeting.

Building on the Ohio State model, the Latinx Cultural Center provides a mentorship program as part of its student support initiatives. The objectives of this mentorship program are:

  • Build a social support system for mentees;
  • Introduce mentees to LCC services and programs;
  • Familiarize mentees with academic support services on campus;
  • Connect mentees to USU events and student organizations.
