Originally founded at The Ohio State University in 2009, LASER (Latinx Space for Engagement and Retention), is a nationally-recognized program that focuses on the scholarship and mentoring of Latinx students. It provides a forum for faculty, staff, and students to build a scholarly community on campus.
Building on the Ohio State model, the Latinx Cultural Center provides a mentorship program as part of its student support initiatives. The objectives of this mentorship program are:
- Build a social support system for mentees;
- Introduce mentees to LCC services and programs;
- Familiarize mentees with academic support services on campus;
- Connect mentees to USU events and student organizations.
