First observed over 50 years ago, Earth Day gives the global community a day to recognize and honor the planet. Here at Utah State, we plan a whole week of activities and events! Join us this year as the Aggie community celebrates Earth Week April 16-22. We look forward to seeing you and celebrating our Earth!
History Of Earth Week
The first Earth Day was celebrated April 22, 1970 after a Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson was inspired to spread awareness about environmental protection after witnessed the impacts of a Californian oil spill in 1969. Now about 200 countries celebrate Earth Day in some form and the resulting Earth Day Network reaches many communities through conservation and education. You can join the global community in celebrating this holiday by taking an Earth Day Pledge.
