The USU Center for Community Engagement invites students to engage in the Cache Valley community to commemorate the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. As our friends at AmeriCorps say, "Make it a day ON, not a day OFF!"
Honor the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by participating in different community engagement projects on MLK Day!
These projects have been split into one-hour shifts, but feel free to commit to the whole time! A carpool will be available if you mark your need for one on the registration form.
Project 1
Monday, January 15th 2024 | Time: 12pm - 1pm
Cleaning & snow removal at the Cache Humane Society
Location: 2370 W 200 N
Help animals who are waiting for adoption by removing snow from their outdoor kennels and doing some deep cleaning in the shelter. Dress warmly for the snowy part, but also in clothes that you can clean in for the indoor part!
Project 2

Tabling outside local business to promote the WAB Warming Center
Locations: Lee’s Marketplace (Logan and Smithfield), CVTD Transit Center on 500 North, and La Rancherita Market: 46W 700 N, Logan, UT 84321 (across main street from Angie’s, past Café Zupas on the left), and Prodigy: 25 W Center St. Logan, UT 84321
Did you know that there is no permanent homeless shelter in Cache Valley? To meet the needs of unsheltered community members during the cold winter months, the WAB Warming Center opens its doors so community members can stay warm and safe during the night. More people need to know about this resource, and more volunteers are needed! Chat with local business customers about the Warming Center's purpose and needs for donations and volunteers. Talking points will be provided. Specific location signups selected in registration, so sign up for a shift that works for you. One location will require Spanish speaking. Dress warmly for standing outside!
