About UCC's Individual Placement AmeriCorps Program
Utah Conservation Corps' Individual Placement Program connects AmeriCorps service to non-profit and government organizations addressing environmental stewardship, education, and sustainability in Utah.
UCC's Individual Placement AmeriCorps members serve with one UCC partner organization for their entire Term of Service. While serving, Individual Placement members have the opportunity to gain professional development and experience in the environmental non-profit and conservation fields through their host site. Additionally, they have access to AmeriCorps benefits and training related to environmental education and volunteer management.
Utah Conservation Corps partners with a variety of non-profits organizations, government agencies, and schools. The list of partners hosting UCC Individual Placement members changes year to year, and service activities vary by site. Below are some of UCC's current and past partners.
How to Get Involved
Each partnering site conducts their own hiring (advertising, application, and selection) process for their UCC AmeriCorps position(s). Hiring for many full-time, full year positions occurs November and December with a start date of January or February of the following year. Seasonal and part-time positions are hired throughout the year.

Sustainability Council
The Utah State University Sustainability Council is comprised of USU faculty, staff, and students committed to the development and promotion of sustainable practices on campus. The council is organized into several committees to implement outreach, education, and conservation efforts.
The Utah House | USU Botanical Center
The Utah House demonstrates, educates, and empowers the public about new ways of building homes and creating landscapes that promote energy efficiency, water conservation, universal design principles, healthy indoor environments, and the sustainable use of all resources. Located at the Utah Botanical Center.
Permaculture Initiative
The USU Permaculture Initiative has provided research, teaching, and outreach on permaculture design through USU Extension Sustainability. This includes permaculture as a community resiliency design framework in light of projected climate change impacts for the Southwest.
Aggie Blue Bikes
Aggie Blue Bikes (ABB) is a community oriented on-campus bicycle rental and repair shop. Aggie Blue Bikes receives its funding from student tuition, and receives approximately $1.11 per student, per semester. ABB employs trained mechanics who can teach customers how to repair their bicycles. Mechanics are trained to be non-elitist and welcoming for all skill levels.
Christensen Service Center and the Student Sustainability Office (COSAS)
The Val R. Christensen Service Center and the Student Sustainability Office (COSAS) have joined forces to become the Christensen Office of Social Action and Sustainability (COSAS). Through Social Action and Sustainability programming, COSAS gives students opportunities to engage with the greater community and become life-long active citizens.
Student Nutrition Access Center (SNAC)
The Student Nutrition Access Center, or SNAC, is the location of USU's food pantry. Our mission is to increase access to nutritious food while educating Aggies about basic needs resources, and sustainable food practices. SNAC is fully supported by fundraisers, not student fees, so anyone in the USU Community can access the services and resources.
Student Organic Farm
If you like gardening, the USU Student Organic Farm is for you. The student-run farm provides hands-on experience growing organic food. Produce is sold on campus weekly and through a community supported agriculture (CSA) program.
Sustainability Practices and Research Center (SPARC)
The mission of the Weber State University Sustainability Practices and Research Center is to inform and educate WSU students, faculty, staff, and the local and statewide community in order to ensure the sustainability of our region and our world for future generations.
Basic Needs Collective
The Basic Needs Collective is a coordinated resource referral hub. We educate about and connect students to campus and community resources to help them meet their basic needs.
Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter
Welcome to the Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter, a 1,200-acre nature preserve and educational center located at the entryway of Park City. Immerse yourself in our vibrant ecosystem, engage in hands-on educational programs, and learn about the natural world.
Red Butte Garden
Red Butte Garden is one of the largest botanical gardens in the Intermountain West and together with the University of Utah, is the State Arboretum of Utah. We are located on 100 acres in the foothills on the eastern edge of the University of Utah campus. The Garden has welcomed guests since 1985 and consists of over 21 acres of developed gardens and five miles of hiking trails winding through an extensive Natural Area.

Common Ground Outdoor Adventures
Common Ground Outdoor Adventures provides life-enhancing outdoor recreational opportunities for youth and adults with disabilities, enabling them to experience the great outdoors alongside their peers.
Utah Society for Environmental Education
The Utah Society for Environmental Education (USEE), a 501 c (3) non-profit, has been a statewide leader in promoting high quality environmental education in Utah since 1981.
Ogden Nature Center
Located in the heart of Ogden, you'll find a 152-acre nature preserve and education center open to the public year-round. The Ogden Nature Center offers a wide variety of activities from walking trails to educational programs for all ages.
Wasatch Community Gardens
Wasatch Community Gardens is a community-based nonprofit that has served the Salt Lake County community for 20 years. Since our founding in 1989, we have provided opportunities for individuals to grow their own food in urban gardens. We also provide educational opportunities to youth and adults.
Stokes Nature Center
The Allen & Alice Stokes Nature Center is Cache Valley’s local nature center and outdoor exploration hub for people of all ages. We are proud to be the official educational permittee of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest and Logan Canyon Children’s Forest.
Friends of Great Salt Lake
The mission of FRIENDS is to preserve and protect the Great Salt Lake ecosystem and to increase public awareness and appreciation of the Lake through education, research, advocacy and the arts.
TreeUtah
TreeUtah works with students, municipalities, local businesses, community groups, and volunteers to plant trees in public spaces throughout the state. We plant trees of all types and sizes to make Utah a greener place to live, work, and play.
Nature Conservancy and Canyonlands Research Center
The Canyonlands Research Center (CRC) is a program of The Nature Conservancy created in partnership with academic institutions, land managers, and state and federal research agencies working together to bring the best available science and different knowledge systems to land management decisions.
Utah Clean Energy
Utah Clean Energy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Salt Lake City. UCE is committed to creating a future that ensures healthy, thriving communities for all, empowered and sustained by clean energy.
Green Urban Lunchbox
Green Urban Lunchbox has envisions a strong network of communities centered around the cultivation of fresh, healthy food. GULB is located in Salt Lake City.
Bridgerland Audubon Society
The Bridgerland Audubon Society(BAS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable conservation organization and an official chapter of the National Audubon Society. The chapter is centered in the city of Logan, situated in the beautiful Cache Valley of northern Utah. The Bear River and Cutler Marsh run through the valley and help to provide a wide variety of habitats for birds and birdwatching.
Summit Community Gardens and Eat Awesome Things
SCG and EATS have shared values and aligned goals – this has been evident throughout our history of partnership. From hosting joint summer camps to communal dinners in the garden, we appreciate how our combined forces have enhanced our ability to succeed.
Waste Less Solutions
Waste Less Solutions is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to making a significant reduction in food waste in Utah. We educate consumers and food entities on the issue and solutions, and we offer a food diversion program that engages our community to help rescue edible food and get it to those who are food insecure.
Canyon Country Discovery Center
Canyon Country Discovery Center creates lifelong learning experiences about the Colorado Plateau through adventure, education, and stewardship.
Cache Trails Alliance
Cache County located in northern Utah for its' easy access to an incredible system of single-track trails open to a variety of trail users. Cache Trails Alliance recognizes this trail system faces high user demand and requires a huge effort to maintain which strains the resources of public and private landowners. Accordingly, they seek to provide support in organizing volunteers to maintain, clean, repair and reroute trails.
Wasatch Mountain Institute
As a proud ReThink Outside partner and a member of the Outdoors Empowered Network, Wasatch Mountain Institute believes time spent outdoors is a basic human right. They are united in a shared vision of a future where everyone has positive experiences outdoors and shares the joy, health, growth, and sense of community that comes with it.
Summit Land Conservancy
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2002, we’re the only nonprofit dedicated to saving the open spaces of Park City and the Wasatch Back. We protect and monitor this community’s investment in local open spaces by defending 49 permanent conservation easements and two preserves on 13,223 acres of land—and we’re currently working to preserve an additional 5,000+ acres of the landscapes our community cherishes.
Trails Foundation - Northern Utah
The mission of Trails Foundation is to plan, promote, preserve, protect, construct and maintain a network of public pathways, trails, and related open spaces for non-motorized users throughout Northern Utah as well as to educate, advocate and raise awareness of trails.
Utah Rivers Council
The Utah Rivers Council is a grassroots organization dedicated to the conservation and stewardship of Utah’s rivers and sustainable clean water sources for Utah’s people and wildlife.
Save Our Canyons
Save Our Canyons is dedicated to protecting the beauty and wildness of the Wasatch Mountains. They are primarily reliant upon their wide spectrum of talented volunteers. Some people help out for a few hours here and there and others contribute almost every day of the year.
Escalante River Watershed Partnership
The Escalante River Watershed Partnership (ERWP) was formed in 2009 to restore and maintain the natural ecological conditions of the Escalante River and its watershed and involve local communities in promoting and implementing sustainable land and water use practices.

Forest Service
The mission of the Forest Service is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the nation’s forests and grasslands to meet the needs of present and future generations.
Utah Division of Forestry, Fire & State Lands
Utah Division of Forestry, Fire & State Lands is responsible for forest health, responding to wildland fires and managing sovereign lands in Utah.
Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation
Salt Lake County prioritizes the preservation of undeveloped areas for the conservation of natural resources and for public access and enjoyment. Working collaboratively with the Open Space Trust Fund Advisory Committee, Salt Lake County Mayor and Council, funding for open space acquisitions, maintenance, and public use has been a priority since 2007.
Jordan River Commission
The Jordan River Commission was created by an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement in August 2010. It was created to facilitate regional implementation of the Blueprint Jordan River, to serve as a technical resource to local communities, and to provide a forum for coordination of planning, restoration, and responsible development along the Jordan River corridor.
Utah Reclamation Mitigation and Conservation Commission
The Utah Reclamation Mitigation and Conservation Commission (Mitigation Commission) is a federal agency responsible for restoring, protecting and conserving fish, wildlife and related recreation resources impacted by federal water development projects, particularly the Central Utah Project, in Utah.
