Alumni Ambassador Program
Alumni Ambassadors are instrumental in spreading the word about opportunities with UCC. It’s also a great opportunity for you to get rewarded for something you probably already do: tell people about your experience serving with UCC. Note: While we hope to expand the Alumni Ambassador program in the future, it is currently only open to members who served during the summer season.
Becoming an Ambassador
Who Are You?
We're looking for alumni who are:
- Finished with their summer term of service
- Passionate about conservation and helping others
- Excited to share their experiences with UCC
- Thrilled to meet new people and enjoy networking
- Inspired by encouraging others to have life changing experiences
- Interested in being a part of the evolution of UCC
What Will You Do?
Alumni Ambassadors share their experience with UCC with the hopes of encouraging others to join. This can be done through in-person, virtual, or other digital channels, meaning you can participate from anywhere in the country!
- Organizing a promotional visit to a high school, college, or another group you are affiliated with
- Attending career fairs in your area
- Hanging up flyers in your school or community
- Writing for the UCC newsletter and/or social media
- Sharing UCC news and opportunities on social media
*Ambassadors are not required to do all of these activities, these are just examples of tasks an Ambassador could engage in.
How Does it Work?
While it's up to the Ambassador to organize and participate in the engagement activities, we will give you the tools you need to succeed!
Resources we can provide include:
- A PR Toolkit
- Presentation Planning Checklist
- Customizable slideshow template about UCC and your experience
- Signup sheets for collecting emails of those interested in learning more
- Promotional materials based on your planned activities
- Ongoing staff support
What are the Benefits of Being an Ambassador?
- Swag bag (Received after completing first Engagement Activity)
- Stay connected with the UCC community, including staff, and potential new members
- Receive special recognition by the program:
- Featured on social media as an Alumni Ambassador
What’s the Time Commitment?
All activities must be completed by the end of the year; however, the first 3 ambassadors to complete 3 engagement activities will receive a special gift.

Using Your Education Award
How To Access and Use Your Education Award
Login to my.americorps.gov and click the 'My Education Award' link on the left side of the page.
After you complete your program the UCC office will exit you from AmeriCorps. It can take up to one month for your exit paperwork to clear. Once you have been exited a new option will show up on your My Americorps Portal, under “My Education Award” which allows you to pay your lending institution or Title IV School of choice. Be sure to read through the FAQs available at the AmeriCorps website as it will answer most of your questions. There are many institutions that will match your AmeriCorps award or have additional scholarships for AmeriCorps alums. You have seven years to use your award (some exceptions can be made).
Your Education Award is managed by AmeriCorps, not UCC. If you are having trouble using your education award, or have additional questions, please call the AmeriCorps Hotline at 1-800-942-2677.
Please NOTE: your education award WILL count as income on your taxes during the year that you use it. The 1099 Tax Form can be found on your My AmeriCorps (my.americorps.gov) account .

Applying for jobs on www.usajobs.gov can be a little tricky. It is highly recommended that you read up on some tips before creating a profile.The USAJobs help center has some helpful tips. There are also great tutorials on YouTube.
