Aggie Blue Bikes (ABB) provides a library of bicycles available to checkout to students for free. That's right! It doesn't cost you a cent when you check out a bicycle from Aggie Blue Bikes, unless you treat it irresponsibly over the course of your rental (see fee list at the end of this page).
An active A-number with USU is required in order to check out a bike. You must also provide and present your own lock at time of checkout. We have a limited amount of locks available to rent for $5/day or you can buy a u-lock for $35 or a cable lock for $25 at the shop. U-locks are recommended because they are the most secure. If you choose to use a cable lock, it must be at least 10 mm in diameter (see lock packaging for size).
Bike rentals are available on a limited day to day basis. Because of this all bikes are first-come, first-serve, with the exception of race bikes and tandems which require reservations. Feel free to call us to see if we have any rentals available in your size.
Three Month Checkouts
These bikes are intended to be a reliable form of transportation for students and are available for 3 months from the checkout date. Cycling is an inexpensive, fun, and accessible way to transport yourself, and these Aggie Blue Bikes make it even easier because our mechanics take care of ALL of the maintenance for you! One thing to remember - our fleet of Aggie Blue Bikes are all donated bikes that we have refurbished and transformed and are completely tuned up between users.
3-Month Know Before You Go:
- FREE for students who are currently enrolled in classes (staff/faculty/visiting scholars have to have an active A-number and only pay $30 per rental, non-active summer citizens pay $75)
- MUST bring a lock that follows our standards (U-lock or cable lock that is 10mm or thicker) You can buy one in the shop or rent one for $5/day based on availability.
- Available on a first-come, first-served basis
- We only check out 5-7 bikes per day - still on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- You will fill out a liability form in the shop (around 10 minutes)
- Users are required to come in every 2 weeks for basic maintenance (expect these to take approx. 5-10 minutes, unless there is a bigger issue)
Daily Checkouts
Daily checkouts are available for a 24-hour period unless you check it out on a Friday, in which case you'll get it for the whole weekend! Most users of our daily checkouts are folks who want to go for a short ride, need a quick alternative to walking, have a minor setback for their own bike, are waiting for a 3 month checkout, or need a race bike for competitive cycling events. 24-hour checkout bikes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Daily rentals cost $5 per day (including weekends) unless stated otherwise, and they come with a lock.

- Unicycles
- Race Bikes (these bikes can ONLY be checked out for races)
- Tandem bikes (limited availability, $10/day, $15/weeekend)
Commuter Club Checkouts
We encourage graduate students and USU employees to apply to the Commuter Club. Commuter Club bikes will be checked out to you for an entire year. Once you have your Commuter Club bike, you'll have to perform the basic maintenance on it every two weeks and bring it into Aggie Blue Bikes every three months for a tune up. To apply for an annual checkout you must:
- Not have an active USU parking pass
- Live at least 1/2 mile away from the USU campus
- Students: Taking 9+ credits as an undergraduate / Taking 6+ credits as a graduate
- USU Employees: Work at least 30 hours a week, primarily on the USU campus
