Foundation Board Committees

The USU Foundation Board designates special committees to provide greater insight into specific areas for which the board is responsible. Committees are led by a chair and members who have expertise relating to specific committee responsibilities. Committee chairs or member assignments may change at any time as approved by the USU Foundation Board.

Executive Committee exercises all the powers of the full USU Foundation Board when it is not in session, and serves the University, its President, and the Foundation as authoritative advocates in the raising, holding, investing, and disbursing of all private gifts to the University. 

Development Committee shapes policy and provides oversight related to the fundraising efforts of the Foundation. The committee identifies new prospective donors or aligns existing donors with University priorities, facilitates perspective donor introductions, helps build relationships, and assists with solicitations to donors as appropriate. 

Governance Committee oversees legal compliance and the USU Foundation bylaws to see that they are maintained and followed, and provides counsel to position the Foundation for ongoing and future success in accomplishing its mission and vision. The committee assists the board in recruitment, screening, orientation, training, and evaluation of new and existing board members, and in overseeing all aspects of the Foundation’s functions on behalf of the board. 

Finance and Investment Committee is the Foundation’s fiduciary relative to the management and investment of gifted assets and is responsible for the prudent investment of the Foundation’s assets in accordance with long-term strategies. Those selected for service on this committee have a broad background of experience in the field of investments. 

Communications and Marketing Committee serves as advisors to the Foundation President/VP University Advancement on strategies related to communications and marketing of the Foundation. The committee develops policy and provides oversight related to the communications efforts of the Foundation, and offers feedback on advancement communications and marketing efforts.
